| DONCASTER Rovers today confirmed the appointment of Gavin Baldwin as their new chief executive.
Something worrying from the Free Press today:
Quote Baldwin took over as interim chief executive following the departure of Dave Morris in March.
The 43-year-old has now been handed the reins on a permanent basis as Rovers look to bounce back from relegation to League One.
Baldwin has been working at Rovers for the last six months developing the club’s business model.
He is thought to be keen on developing a Sporting Club which would see several of the town’s sports clubs come together under the Doncaster Rovers banner.'"
Please Carl and John don't sign up to this. Everything is going well on and off the field, please don't become part of this. Lets stay independent.

| I dont think something like this can be dismissed out of hand without knowing what it would mean for the Dons. I understand your concerns, but could it be a good thing in reducing costs if for instance purchasing of medical supplies etc was done in bulk. If its just bringing things under one umbrella to make things easier to run and improve advertising/sponsorship, wouldn't that help?. If its a takeover, then no, i think a lot more would have to be revealed before anything would happen anyway. Thats just my opinion.

| I think it might be about the Rovers wanting the Stadium (all the teams are part of the rovers so therefore demonstrate the need). That and also spreading the debt from the main company (patienceform) across a group company structure.
Carl and John have worked so hard to get the club into a strong finanical position. If the move suggested is the group company structure it will immediately laden the club with debt again.
That is why I am worried.

| Fair enough, dont know too much about rovers debt, just have to trust the Dons board to do the right thing, they wont want to put the club at risk im sure. Without more info and a statement of intent from the Dons board its difficult to know what it would mean.

| Is it their way of keeping the happy family at the Keepmoat? Do they have the power to kick us out?
Its funny how none of this has been thought about before when they were massive and in the championship , but now their main backers have jumped ship and they face a tough time in League 1 (believe me it will be tough for them and I cant see them getting anywhere near the top next year) they want us on side again.
Cant get my head around this one.

| NO,NO,NO!
Everyone at the club has grafted really hard over the past three years and we now have a well run club, not up to the neck in debt and a cracking team as well. Why would we want to get into bed with a football team on the slide?
I didn't see any one from the Rovers wanting to join up with us when we went into admin, got relegated and almost ceased to exist. If it wasn't for the likes of Carl and his fellow directors we would have no Dons at all.
Let the Rovers sort out their own problems, we don't need to be involved!

agreed its hard enough for rugby league fans to be taken seriously with a lot of football fans thinking they have an automatic right to priority when it comes to stadium etc. the last thing we want is to be under rovers

I've just been looking on a website called 'historical football kits' which shows the Rovers original colours as blue shirts with a gold cross X. Could you imagine the fuss from the Rovers fans if they were told they were going to play in blue and gold!
