Halifax should be in suoer league. Wakefield went into administration and still got in. When Widnes went into administration 3 years ago we could not get a in super league because of that.

But to me this very simply looks like there has been nothing of an assessment of these clubs at all. It wouldn't surprise me if they hadn't just been prepared to drop Wakey until yesterday and then this Crusaders joke shook everything up and they were left with having to make a decision in little to no time and plumped for the easy option. If the potential for Fax could not be considered in the applications then why ever give them the impression they were in the running up against SL funded clubs.

This sends out a very wrong signal to all of RL below SL...


I also think that the RFL should for the sake of transparency be producing details of how they have arrived at their decision. Points in club's applications that went well for the successful clubs for example.

im probably wrong, but wasnt the 'going into administration as an automatic fail' line of thought buried by the RFL when Crusaders went tits up? if so, adminstration is irrelevant to the criteria.
as much as that annoys us widnes fans who where rejected on the back of administration, if the RFL changed their minds about such things being the overrding factor (which i seem to recall they did in order to save Crusaders) then surely

I don't remember seeing any public announcement that financial soundness had been removed as a consideration. Michael Steele has every right to challenge this decision.

If the RFL changed the goal posts to protect their 'investment' in the Welsh experiment then surely there could be grounds for Widnes to challenge the previous decision on the grounds of loss of potential earnings and the RFL having a conflict of interest with their investment in the Welsh experiment.

Aye. We've got the satisfaction of knowing we were in the right, were in super league and now weve got our own work to do.

At the end of the day. the RFL ran out of goal posts they could move in order to save Crusaders. We knew this administration rule had been changed since we were denied 3 years ago so i'm not too bothered on that. Thankfully Wakefield were saved, albeit under different circustances. Out of them, Crusaders and Quins they have the most potential imo when it comes to youth developement and crowds.

When I first saw that Crusaders hadn't got a franchise I was very surprised that the RFL had come to that decision, I almost managed to garner a little respect for them... then I read further and saw that Crusaders had pulled out voluntarily and the world was back to normal.

So, what's been happening in the world of Rugby League. Anything exciting?

What's been happening? You been away or something...........well, I'll fill you in.

Apparently, some cock from Londonshire who knows knob all about RL decided it might be a laugh to plonk a manufactured club into Superleague (a bit like Brother Beyond in musical terms but obviously not as good) and then had to eat a load of pie called Humble (to me though, it looked like his sidekick beat him to the pie a number of times) or something on National telly the other day. Then he had to allow a current but failed club to stay in Superleague and tell a club who had gained the right to apply to Superleague and not done anything wrong to stick their hardwork up their hoops and lump it.

So in summary, not much has happened and I commend you for cheering the mighty Vikings whilst reflecting over your latte.

Whatever happens in the game and however many people get shafted (and I include the Crusaders players and fans in that regard) it is pleasing to know that there are some decent people left in the game, especially those that follow it. The RFL had an Agenda and stuck to it. However, to keep to that Agenda they had to keep moving the Goal Posts, in fact they moved them so far they lost sight of them. What the result would have been without Crusaders pulling the plug themselves we will never know. I am still waiting to see the assessment in writing from the RFL.

Whats happened is, the result was going to be wakefield down, widnes in. They've skimmed every other bid. Gave it lip service. That was what they wanted, that was what was going to happen. Then, the Crusaders have pulled out, or they've been forced for some reason, at the nth hour, and all of a sudden someone says "so we don't have to drop wakefield after all!"

They've probably not read Fax's bid all that much and were not prepared for this actuality. Maybe the Crucrusaders demanded more money out of them and they told them to get lost. Either way, Wakefield are through on more undelivered promises.

I fail to see how it is an obsenity to drop a team from super league but not keep teams in the championship long term indefinitely. They've been through admin, they're still playing out of that stadium they promised to be out of years and years ago, and they're nearly at the bottom of super league. They're relegation fodder and not using this opportunity to put Fax in makes no sense unless we work on the basis that the RFL don't really know what they are doing.
