Excellent move. For far too many years, the club have allowed the lunatics to run the asylum and it finally seems that we have a structure at the club with a backbone that should see those days coming to an end.

Hopefully the players have “bought into it” as Gentle suggests, but if not and dummies are spat then the club should be prepared to say a fond farewell to the moaners, regardless of who they are.

Things like this are doing purely for the purpose of appeasing fans, hence the reason for it making the pages of the HDM. Why else put it to print?
In practice, what it will actually do is disgruntle an already fragile and in some cases discontented set of players. A big chunk of your players will be missing anyway due to international call ups and injuries. There is plenty of time until your next match and plenty of opportunities to put in double sessions to correct things that are currently going wrong. Lets be honest, although performances may have dipped lately the score-lines show that you are not that far away from winning these matches.
A naive move by Peter Gentle in my opinion.

Interesting situation, Gentle has clearly set his stall out I have no doubts it will upset a few players however if the players are not prepared to work under Gentles regime they have the option to leave. My only issue with this is I feel he should not have done this publicly, if disciplinary measures (which they appear to be) are brought into any-ones workplace one would not expect those measures to be shared with all and sundry..
The fact that these measures are in place does not convince me that we will find our form again, for me that has to come with passion and desire from the players, I am not convinced that this public measure will reinstate that passion and desire, time will tell though.

It's not a disciplinary measure. A disciplinary measure would have to follow a breach of club rules for a start, and have to follow a formal procedure for second.

Indeed, and as employee's of the club, Gentle has every right to cancel a concessionary day, and he was quite right to inform the fans, it's a case of not only justice being done, but it being seen to be done.

I'd wager those that are saying it's a media/PR stunt have never managed a department that have direct customer expectations placed up on them.

I don't disagree with that tbh, hence the brackets in my post, I think the word punitive measure would have been more appropriate as I doubt any player could be disciplined for a poor performance on the pitch. I have no problems with Gentle putting in a punitive measure however my thoughts remain the same, I do not think it is constructive for all and sundry to be aware of the punitive measure in place, nor am I totally convinced that will reinstate players pride & passion.
