havent seen one so thought i would start it of. agar saying its going to be a strongish lineup, will be intresting to see who the halfbacks will be coz going by what he said on the radio the older players like fitz wont play woundt really benifit him which is true but wonder wether he goes with longy coz i feel he needs as much game time with another halfback going into the new season.

theres options for hooker with tansey moving there and brisccoe going to fullback ect but id like to see this sort of lineup with longy and nicklas getting a good half under there belt. i think theres a good mixture of youth and experince and its important that these young guys get a bit of game time alongside the senior players coz during the season they maybe called upon and obviously moa,omeley,lauaki and dowes should get a bit of match fitness.
anyone goin to the game cracking little stadium with a good surface i noticed agar mentioned that and should we expect a decent turnout from the black and whites or are people saving there money for the magic weekend?

a mix of 1st team and young ones at donny,followed by strongest team available at cas.

fitzy will play 60-80 mins next week, players like omeley,moa and lauaki play short 20 mins spells and need a couple of run outs where as fitz is a player that plays for high mins and grafts like manu and tickle this game isnt necessary for these as there going to get long runouts next week.

Not sure longy will play to be honest or fitz but will against cas . Think ogre,lauaki,moa,tickle,dowes, will play out the forwards , not sure bowt westerman maybe keep him for cas aswell.

Is Houghton injured?

no but with us likely to field our strongest 18 players next week and houghton will most probable playing the full 80 this isnt as beneficial to him and is a good oppitunity to use washy and tansey there as they will provide cover throughout the season and is a good test to see how they go.

Fair enough, but I think everyone should get at least 20 minutes.

but this game was always going to be a team with a mixture of senior and young players, but for me forwards like tickle,manu,houghton,fitz dont need to play as they will get full games or for manu high game time and id rather have say some of the younger players like green,cunningham and kent get some game time with the first teamers as they will most probable be called upon with our injury record anyway so should be a good learning experience

If it's gonna be unlimited subs as is usually the case, I'd like to see this Laurance Pearce have 20 minutes, he should be able to handle playing against a team of Donny's level, especially with a few first teamers to look after him.

I'd rather we stuck to the actual first team getting a run out (so as many of the 27 as possible getting a go) rather than using a first team match to start playing our academy players. That's what all the academy matches are for.

Couldn't disagree more, these games especially friendlies against lower league opposition give the pro's a bit of a run out, they also give the coaches a chance to have a look at some of the young lads playing at a better level than academy, he's been playing in the off season, quite well as it happens, there's a fair chance he'll only feature in the academy all season, so it's a good chance to gauge where he's at.

I agree, but a couple of injuries and people would be slating Agar for risking first teamers when we have a paper-thin squad. Difficult balance to strike.

Think Fitz and Long wont play due to the risk of injury. Tom will be given the week off due to playing for England, and Yeaman will be given the week off due to his fooy injury.

Dont think you be too far off their mate ,reckon that washy and tansey will also get bit at hooker to see how they go.Great chance for Nicklas see how he goes .

Not far off there Mrs!! however i would say the term "paper thin" is a slight over exageration but i know what you mean however the use of junior players is not so much the class or moves they show but what desire they show when on the island that coaches look for !all junior squad members will get a shunt or two from pros, thats how it always goes in friendlies , then its down to them how they get on with it... many a junior has disappeared from a pre season friendly after a seasoned pro has a quiet word in a tackle or similar.... however our lads at present are most definately fearless so should be interesting
