I lost count of the amount of times Silverwood referred back to the VR yesterday to check 'obstructions'. This is becoming more and more regular with referees and it needs sorting out. It's basically discouraging clubs from using tactics such as dummy runners and second phase plays, (not that we do anyway) and the amount of trys (good trys) that are wiped out because of 'an obstruction leading up to the try' is ridiculous and needs looking at imo. Whats everyone else's thoughts on the matter?

The try that was chalked off in the Leeds v Wire game when it was said Clarke obstucted a tackle was the worse video ref decision i have ever seen.

Was it Paul King v Leeds at the KC who was deemed to have obstructed resulting in a try of ours being disallowed by the VR ? That incident wasn't as bad as some of those that were let go (rightly) this weekend. Cummings has obviously introduced the random obstruction ajudication as part of the overall modern full-time referees' training schedule.

Agreed. Diskin must have ran 10 meters to tackle Clarke (and if he had stayed where he was he would have been in a position to prevent the try anyway).

The decision of obstruction should be made on the judgement of common sense. No rule can cover all situations correctly

what is and what is not classed as an obstruction as there seems to be a little confusion with the refs and supporters and the tv pundits too

I'd prefer no video refs at all, it's completely unfair that some games have them and some don't.
It's also a kop-out for the refs who shy away from big decisions.

Having another offical sat high in the stand with a different view of whats happening would greatly help the game.

The big issue I have is that Vidoe refs always look for a reason to disallow a try rather than reward good play. They should be scrapped but as long as SKY Commentators quiz every decison they will stay.

Maybe agar is a visionary and is preparing for a time when dummy runners are banned altogether

No i have no problem with the video ref being able to judge on obstructions because at full speed and with only one view i believe they are hard to judge on.. but why can't common sense be put into place? If the defender goes to tackle the dummy runner then they have read the play incorrectly, obviously this is not the case in all situations but i don't see why it is that hard for video referees.

yeah they do make some stupid desicions sometimes
