| Good first half from the boys but this second half the young lads have been generally very good in defense but a few too many mistakes when we have the ball & Batley have scored off the back of them, making the most of coming down the hill.

| That’s a very young squad with 5 having had just one year in the Academy and 5 Just stepped up from Scholarship, including Aydin, Schofield and Kamano who are all 17 year old Front rowers.

Yeah, these lads will have got a hell of a lot from this game and CC will be very proud with how they've played against a generally much older bigger experienced Batley side.

| Did anyone go today?
The comments on FB are quite positive.
Just wondered if anyone could add any detail about how the young guns played.
Especially Max at 6.

All played well against a physical Batley side, with no help from a poor ref. A good mature 80 minutes performance from all the young kids, proud of them all

| That's massive understatement about the Ref BLM, he was horrific, 2 tackles in the 2nd half that could have ended in serious injury went totally unpunished, how long did we go in the game before we got a penalty despite the high/late tackles being committed by Batley. Shoulder charges a plenty and a half time penalty counts something like 7-2 in favour of Batley, then in the last 5 mins the ref gives us around 6 pens in 6 sets like we don't know what he's doing to even up the count.
All,in all though I thought that young team did very well against what is likely to be close to Batleys starting team, Max went well at SO and his try was an absolute pearled, he spotted the gap from way out and was shouting for the ball to get to him. I think there's an awful lot to be happy with at the moment with our academies and the the possible future they offer Wakefield Trinity

| Young squad, who were always going to struggle in second half uphill against pretty much a first choice Batley squad. Stand out defensive performance from crowther who gave 110 percent, batchelor looked strong also, thought 28 on wing did very well under a lot of pressure. Difficult for jowitt behind a pack that were generally outplayed but if he is going to try and make a go of it in halves needs to take the line on, thought he looked very Jamie rooneyesque at times. All in all pretty good performance and given the temperature kept my beer icy throughout the match.

| Out of the backs I thought Kershaw did well on the wing with some good defensive reads. Luke Hooley went okay but wasn't tested too much - haven't seen him much in attack yet. Max did okay at no.6 and I thought Ackroyd looked lively and has the heart of a lion for his size. I cringed watching him tackle Rettie going at full pelt but the lad didn't shirk it.
Hard to tell with the forwards as they were much less developed physically and they found it hard to make metres due to that. I didn't begrudge them it in today's game. Their desire was good and defence was generally strong in general play - naturally Batley were always going to get some crash over scores due to them being a lot bigger physically. Aydin looked a cut above the rest of the forwards I though and he looked the nearest ready in a physical way. Batch went okay too. Thought Crowther was quite quiet.
The young lad at hooker - Hiddleston? He looks a cracking little player. Thought he was a problem around dummy half with some good, quick distribution and some clever little scoots. Made a cracking line break with a nice dummy and a bit of pace.

I will do, it's perfectly plausible I got Jordan mixed up with other players. I didn't go just to watch him. I'd say my quite quiet is more focused on with the ball than without it. Sometimes it's hard to pick out individuals when in a batch of tackling players. Chill.

| It was a great performance by the young ones, and I really enjoyed it (more than the Boxing day game
to be fair) It was a spirited performance despite a ref who was terrible.
Well done to every single one of them
Oh, it was bloody cold though eh?

And some folk want to go back to a winter sport
It was a great effort and I though the young scrum half (Ackroyd ??) got stuck in really well.
Needs a couple of years and a couple of stone on him but, never shirked anything.
You could tell the senior players (Jowitt, Crowther and Batch) but it was the lack of size in the pack that eventually told (as you would expect). A good watch but it was bloody cold.
The young lads will get more from that game than anyone got from last week's drubbing of Fax.

| Very well organised and structured in defense that bodes well for the under 19`s season, the wingers came to the rescue on a couple occasions when we were stretched with some really good reads of what was happening in front of them. Our starting 9 looked good, lovely crisp fast passes both left and right. The young forwards had their hands full but gave it their all. Batch took a knock to his knee early in first half that restricted him, spoke to him after the game he reported that it was `just a knock ` . Crowther and Jowitt showed up well and you could see what a couple of years and full time training does for you.
Thought Batley looked well organised , they were gifted plenty of procession in our half that they capitalized on : not fielding the kick off at start of second half, getting caught in procession on the 6th when bringing the ball out of defense up the hill. Thought young Tom Schofield looked composed in the 20 minutes he was on for, he organised well and defended everything that came his way including a great try savor on Ainscough who was in the clear from a tap on the 20.
I beg to differ from most on here as I felt the ref had a decent game. He was not pedantic and allowed the game to flow, not an easy job .

You must have been watching a different game. Love to see the penalty count in the 2nd half, he was forever blowing his whistle.
He was shocking, he missed a blatant head high tackle in the 2nd half and seemed to have a great view of it.

The incident on the 6th tackle was also the refs cock up, he said it was the 4th tackle so Luke run it in and changed it to the last tackle, I thought he was poor but just my opinion.

| Finally got round to watching this game and have to say hugely impressed.
Crowther clear MOM, absolutely everywhere in the first half.
Jowitt suits the six roll.
Hooley looked a lot better than he did against Leeds where he looked a little over awed to me.
Kershaw, I really like this kid though he looks about 30! Very direct, reminds me a bit of Cockayne minus the gob.
Wray did well as did Ackroyd.
Of the genuine under 19's they were all good tbh couldn't pick a special one really but I'll try - I liked the hooker Hiddleston as well as Moxon and Newbould and I saw nice touches from Tom Scofield and a few others but all were really good.
They looked diciplined and pretty skillfull more so than there Batley counterparts tbh. What did surprise me though was there size. I know they were smaller than Batley but there were some big lads for there ages all across the park for us who with a few years under their belts will be strong lads. I say this because for years now the one thing our juniors have always lacked is size and the ability to develop physically. The only player on the park today who was small even for his position was Ackroyd but he makes up for that.
How many will make it who knows but if I were Batley I'd have made some notes.
