| They will have taken heart from the way they put pressure on Dewsbury and nearly turned them over at the death.
We have to be clinical and maintain concentration and intensity for the full 80 and if so we should win by a good couple of tries.
If we fail to put into practice the lessons we have learned in the friendlies and games so far, this could be a close run thing.
At home, and against lower division opposition, the team should be trying to give the type of performance that will encourage more fans to turn up.

| Firstly I'd advise that in defence we should stand a good yard behind Laughton and that none of our players including Buster and JD say anything to him at all.
I think if we put in a similar performance to what we did against Rochdale we win by a similar of greater margin. Personally I'd like us to see us put in a big defensive performance and keep them to less than 10 points.

| Think we should win comfortably if we continue improvements. I think I read they've some injuries but agree we can't be complacent, they'll be up for it and I'd like to see us be clinical.

| Our kicking game has improved no end so I'd like to see us utilise this as much as possible, let's keep them penned back in there own Half as much as possible and ware them down, then when in possession of the ball let's make advantage of Parata, he's clinical and should be odds on for a try or 4!

| Not only Parata but, with the form that our props showed last week, let them make the inroads and get the ball out to any three-quarter for a clinical finish.
We've just got to keep Roden out of the game. Legally of course!

| Interesting article in 'The Oldham Chronicle'
Quote Disciplinary committee to hear Thompson case
Date published: 02 March 2012
ALEX Thompson, Oldham’s promising young forward, has been charged by the RFL with striking an opponent.
He is alleged to have been involved in an off-the-ball incident with Dewsbury forward Dwayne Barker which referee Jamie Bloem placed on report in the 46th minute of last Sunday’s Northern Rail Cup clash at Whitebank.
His case will go before the league’s disciplinary committee on Tuesday — five days before Oldham go to Workington Town in their opening game of the 2012 Co-operative Championship One campaign.
If he were to plead guilty or be found guilty, a match suspension would rule him out of the big kick-off.
Oldham are in the process of reviewing the incident on DVD before discussing it with 21-year-old Thompson and deciding what action to take.
Under new disciplinary procedures, he can plead guilty and take a one-match ban or contest it, attend Tuesday’s judiciary, and face the possibility of getting a two-match ban if the hearing went against him.
The former Warrington youngster, highly rated at Whitebank, is included in a 23-man squad from which coach Tony Benson will pick his 17 to face Keighley Cougars at Cougar Park on Sunday (2pm kick-off) in the Roughyeds' fourth and final pool game. Oldham are unlikely to qualify for the last eight.
Selection will hinge on late fitness tests on Matthew Fogarty, who damaged an ankle last Sunday, and on two players who missed that game through injury, Valu Bentley (ankle) and Paul Ballard (knee).
Also in the squad are veteran forward Paul Smith and the two recent signings from Widnes Vikings, Jack Reid and Tom Rigby.
Roughyeds hope to build on the fightback that earned them a 36-36 draw in South Wales and their second-half performance against Dewsbury which produced 24 unanswered points in a whirlwind 18-minute spell.
Coach Tony Benson said: “We are getting better and better each week.
“We are getting close to a point where everything will click. That will be a quantum leap for us.”
Whatever the result, Oldham want to put on a good team effort with which to build momentum for the first league game at Workington.
They will face a tough test at Keighley, who are in the Championship and who have bolstered their squad this year with the signing of three former Super League stars from Wakefield, Paul March, Sam Obst and Michael Korkidas.
In the NRC so far they lost 22-16 at home to Batley before drawing 24-24 in Toulouse and then hammering Rochdale away 40-16.
Player-coach Jason Demetriou, a former Wakefield captain, said: “Our aim is to improve week on week, but another goal is to reach the last eight in the Northern Rail Cup and this is our chance to do it.” '"

I think its a good idea. Buster is a major player. It will be interesting to see how we play with Obst playing hooker.

| Convincing win today. I definitely expected the game to be closer than it was today.
I was surprised at Jason Demetriou reacting to an Oldham player by going to attack him. I don't think that a player and coach with his experience should be reacting like this.
Where have all the Oldham fans gone though? I remember them bringing a good few hundred a few seasons back. There seemed to be no more than about 20 today though?

With what went on the floor during the tackle. I would be more surprised if a player didn't react the way JD did.

| Come on Connor - would you have 'turned the other cheek' after an elbow had been directed onto your nose-end whilst laying flat on your back and being unable to defend yourself?

| It was the first time in a long time that I actually agreed with the choice of Man of the Match today.
We look a half decent side, we just need to cut the errors out. Their second try was a particularly poor defensive effort. You've got to work harder to get back and defend a 20m tap than that.
At times we tried a bit too hard in attack. We made too many errors around the play of the ball trying to quicken the game up. Our pack demolished theirs but in attack we over complicated things given the conditions. We needed a much more pragmatic approach than we had. If we had completed sets, put good kicks in and built pressure we'd have won by a much greater margin.
We are going to have to improve a lot to be able to live with Featherstone next week.

Some fair comments but I think we should give some credit to Oldham for a never say die performance and a stern defensive effort.
A little too much "messing about" in the tackle for my liking and an inconsistent performance by the officials (for both sides).
We did what we had to and it looks like there is still more to come.
