The Rugby Football Union has announced a £6.3 million loss for the 1st July 2011 to 30th June 2012.

I know the RFU have a bigger turnover than RL but losing that kind of money can't be good. If the RFL announced that sort of loss the board would go in to melt down. Be interesting to see how the RFL's compares

What has this got to do with rugby league?

Shows how dependent they are on internationals to bring the money in. But I'd still rather be in their position than ours.

Some big wig will make up the difference from the petty cash,

As i said, it's interesting to see how a fellow sporting body is doing financially and how RL compares.

Many of us can remember the days when union trolls came on here and hijacked the board day after day with a pointless debate.

It's not about how a fellow sporting body is doing. It's about getting at the old enemy and we can't stand against them.

A 6.3 million loss to the RFU is not the impact it would have on us.

The largest increase in RFL turnover in recent times has been the increase in broadcast revenue (which excludes Super League) which has gone from just under £3m in 2006/07/08 to in excess of £7m recently. The increase in total turnover specifically between 2010 and 2011 was £4.2m of which only £670k related to increased governmental funding.

So you are suggesting that the RFL are recieving an extra 4million in broadcasting revenue per year but outside SL SKY money, so who is that from ? , and what part of the game is ' earning ' that revenue?

I'm not "suggesting" anything - I'm going from the audited figures included in the RFL's annual reports. Sorry if the facts don't suit.

As the annual reports note, these reflect significantly improved deals with Sky and the BBC for internationals and Challenge Cup. Stupid, incompetent RFL.

The RFL have managed to keep their heads above water now for 10 straight years and are to be applauded for this, but it does put the 2 sports in perspective, when one can swallow such a massive negative year and then forecast posting a record year the next. They're even already planning for the loss they'll make at RWC 15 and 75,000,000 upgrade of Twickenham....and they reckon the bank loan for the last lot of work on TW2 will be settled by the end of this financial year too.....they freely admit to needing these autumn internationals and the 6 nations to make ends meet....but that's the point, they do make ends meet.
England v Fiji.....australia....south africa.....all blacks..82,000 a pop, 328,000...all they need is tickets at 20 quid each to make back their 6.3 with change.....AFIK, cheapest tickets to Twickenham start at 40 notes.
