| I havent got to many games until recently, having a car Im getting to the odd one here and there, and I confess I havent seen Cas play live in at least a few seasons, but I found their travelling support a bit odd last night and was just wondering if its the norm.
First off, they segregated part of the north stand, which I havent noticed before, they had around a third of it with Wigan fans in the rest. Why were they split apart like that?
Also, as annoying as I found drums, the constant drone of "your fans are f**king s**t" from their support started getting quite boring early on, and it seemed a bit at odds with how many they brought?
Fair credit to them they made noise, but just thought it a bit odd that they needed to be kept separate and were constantly chanting stuff like that with their own kids and kids nearby. This may be perfectly normal now, but is it that different with different away support? I was at the Warrington game at the back end of last year, and while there was chanting and banter it was tit for tat, in a big game that was very close, last night just seemed quite odd.

Were they segregated? I didn't see any segregation from my position in the Wigan side of the north stand. The only thing I saw were signs encouraging Wigan fans to use certain terrace entrances and Cas fans to use others, no one was stopped from going where they liked. The fans mixed well on the concourse.
The "your support is s... " song was amusing, given there were more Wigan fans in the ground than would into their pile.

| There was a strip of black cloth to keep the fans separate, it ran vertically and covered about 2 seats wide I think.

More of a line to simply mark out "allocated" areas - not like wendyball where they have to be kept apart lest they start killing each other.
As for the chants - I thought they were a little close to (if not over) the knuckle especially considering this is supposed to be a family game. But then they are from Yorkshire.
And can someone do some proper acoustic sampling with calibrated equipment please. I know it's an old chestnut, and various theories have been put up to be shot down before, but the noise from the North stand [idoes [/iconsistently appear louder than most stuff from the South - I'm just above the dug-out & couldn't hardly hear anything from our lot last night. And I don't think it was for lack of trying.

| The drumming from the north stand was definitely carrying well. Too well. If i was a Cas fan that had come across and had to sit under that Id have lost the will to live.
So it was just to show the areas then rather than keep people separate? That makes more sense, thought I had missed RL fans turning nasty so much it was necessary to keep them apart, glad its not the case.

| I didn't think there were 15k there last night. Maybe that was the number of tickets sold and a fair few didn't turn up due to the weather.

| Found it hilariously ironic that the cas fans were singing 'your support is f*cking sh*t' followed by the announcement of the attendance of 15k+ which is 3k more than their stadium even holds on a sell out.

| Think I read somewhere there were free/cheap tickets given to local businesses and that's why there were Wigan fans in the North stand. Fair play to the club for doing this, the crowds have been struggling this season and it was good to see 15k on, especially in that weather. There is a fine line though, as you can start to pee of ST holders and regular attendees who pay every week if you do stuff like that too often.

For the heritage game (every season) Heinz are allowed to purchase cheap tickets for their employees (past and present) That was why there were Wigan fans in the North Stand.

| I would hazard a guess at the "your support is not very good" chant is more a jibe at the weak atmosphere as opposed to the numbers as such.

| The atmosphere is tremendous at the DW when we play Saints, good when we play Wire & Leeds. For the rest of the teams varies from average to poor.
Hopefully if Leigh get promoted we will have one less "poor" and one more "good" as Wiganers have a good banter with the Lobbies!

| Maybe we should enter the Cas fans into The Eurovision Song Contest, that's the only competition I know where you get points for singing.

So, you are not a Wigan fan? Supporting the team rather than where they play in my house. To be honest, Central Park was what I grew up with but as a kid not being able to see was crap, my kids can see fine now. So can I. Its not bad at all.
