Surprised no one has mentioned how Tony Iro (Assistant coach at New Zealand Warriors) just happened to be at Wembley.

Sorry if someone else has and I've just missed it.

Could hardly recognise him.

Also seem to remember talk of an NRL link up with NZ Warriors & Wigan at some point last year - just hope Wigan get something out of it too!

Such a laid back character at Wigan, didn't look like coach material back then. Sometimes looked like he needed a rocket up his rear, did just fine at Wembley though.

Iro was sacked as Assistant coach of the Warriors at the end of last season and because of bad blood created by the players tweeting they wanted him and not Elliot for head coach.

Iro is completely out in the cold as far as what happens at head office at the Warriors goes these days , however he still has the ear of some of the players ( something which the club is trying to overcome ) but as high performance manager of NZ they can't do much about that one.
Ivan Cleary is the NZRL national teams assistant coach not Iro.

So why was Iro at Wembley ? he's looking at training venues and places to stay , having a look at Aaron Heremaia as an outside chance for the extended squad ( Iro has some selection sway albeit minor in the NZ Camp ) .

As for Iro the player , he was an interesting one , lazy lump of a lad till he became a secound row forward for the Sydney City Roosters , transformed into a very good player at his peak , faded to an average forward for the NZ Warriors

If he was there regarding Tomkins he either made himself look like he wasn't on purpose, or has a bad memory, called him Thompson, then quickly corrected himself
