Has singed a 2 year deal for Saints.

Anyone give us some info? I remember him as a tough tackling second rower. Quite pleased with the signing but would have preferred a prop as I think we're looking light there for next season.

Something like 67 tackles in a game against us a couple of years ago.....the one where Eastmond slid about 20 meters to score the winner



Apparently very versatile.....can play SR, LF, and can stand in at hooker and Stand off if need be.....but I agree, would've preferred a prop.

Did a job for us, rarely missed a tackle, runs hard, works hard. Good signing.

Good signing for you. He's a superb tackler (IIRC he made over 50 against you once at KR), a strong runner and also has a nice offload on him.

And he's pretty damn sexy.

Puletua will prop next year with LMS and Perry with Laffranchi anf Cloughie spelling also when required.

I said at the time, and I still hold the thought that, if Liam Farrell had been fit at the back end of 2009, Flanagan wouldn't have played a game here at Wigan, I think Farrell was at the time the better player in the back row.

Flanagan though offers more utility value and should have benefitted a lot from two years in the NRL, so certainly not a bad buy at all.

But if your asking me personally if I'm gutted he's not still here at / returning to Wigan? I'd say no considering we have the likes of Farrell and Mossop having made it through, the latter having seamlessly converted to the front row already.

he is a hard working player but has had a lack of NRL games this year 1 IIRC

and 21 last year. Really needs some game time.

last year was his first year so wouldnt of expected him to get a huge number of games but this year was his chance with the injuries the tigers have had especiall in the back row but for some reason they haven't picked him.

i hope he gets a few more NRL games and comes back and gets back to the player he was

If Wigan and NRL rejects are now the standard Stains are looking at, that loan for the new stadium must be costing more than we imagined.

He'll do alright for you, not good enough for the Wigan 17 though sadly.

Due to our quota, I don't think we were in much of a position to sign anyone else, although I would have preferred to sign Griffin or even Lynch who, I think, are both off contract.

Decent signing and a solid player, did well for us before heading to Oz. I'm not gutted he has signed for Saints, don't think he'd get in the Wigan team now.

I thought he was Viking bound. Suprised he has gone to Saints; then again he will have a couple of years NRL experience behind him.

Would have been no reason for us to sign him, we are over subscribed in that position already like you said!

Fell away in OZ never got his place back but i think he could do well if he gets a chance, depends how over a year of reserve games has affected him

Think he'll be a good solid Super League player but nothing special. When he left Wigan he could have been anything but for some reason its just not worked for him over there. If I was a Saints fan i'd be abit wary of the fact that hes not made it over there and is coming back, players off the top of my head who I remember doing that: Richie Mathers, Jordan Tansey and Chris Thorman.

Our coach has coached him and knows him so I doubt any of us will worry about that side of things. It's more the fact that he is a second rower. We have an abundance of them at Saints already, home grown. We need a prop and not yet another second rower, regardless of how versatile! Still, I suppose it's wait and see time.

Has he been injured all season? It's just that that is generally a prerequisite for joining Saints these days.

Thats exactly what we were saying about the Hoffman signing last year. Maybe it will turn out the same for you and he will become a fans favourite

Useful squad player for us in 2009, but would never have got into the side ahead of Hansen, J. Tomkins, Bails & Lockers when they were fit (though he did a great job when Bailey was injured). I think he went to Oz mainly for personal reasons, though, so maybe something's happened there that has made him decide to come back?

The fact he's going to Saints won't cloud my judgement on him that he's a quality player. We simply don't need him bit that doesn't mean he isn't a good player. He's a workhorse but has got superb hands and he'll get stuck in.

I'd liken him to Lockers or Wilkin in that he does the tough stuff but with some skills thrown in. He's not in their league but he's of that type and he'll go well at Saints.

Hes decent and I think if we didnt have so many SRs we probably would have signed him back ourselves.

Better player than Flannery would you say? That's who I would see as his main opposition for a starting spot - not going to displace Soliola or Wilkin in the back row.
