this is why i praise the fact that a few of our players are studying part time at uclan.

Lets be honest he was crazy putting all his eggs in one basket so to speak. Lets hope some players learn a lesson from whats happened to him and realise everybody needs to plan for the future.

True but I think the point is that his era didn't get help with planning for the future. Sure I read Terry O'Connor talking about them changing that for the current era.

what help in planning did they need? any idiot could know that having a job where the retirement age is 30'ish leaves a big gap in their life.

The same thing happened to Phil Veivers after he left the assistant coaches job at Wigan last year. He ended up working shifts on a production line at the Heinz factory

its like westy . driving a taxi. there are people retiring from sport every year. Coaching jobs are few and far between . Not everyone is articulate enough to go in front of the camera. So where do they go ??? . its an unfortunate reality that they have short careers. Young players should be guided corectly by their respective employers. Also young players should not put all their eggs in one basket.
