| Just a quick question. Does anyone know if you will be able to get tickets or pay on the gate for the game tonight? Thanks.

[url=http://www.leedsunited.com/news/elland-road-sold-out-for-rugby-clash-20091113_2247585_1875330'Sold Out'[/url in a truly farcical rugby league way, with 9,000 seats in one stand not being used....

| Sold out with 9000 seats remaining and the RFL have advised people without tickets to not bother turning up????? Turning fans away when you haven't filled the ground?
Why not have pay on the gate for the upper tier east stand then even if you only get 1000 people its better than none.

Not 100% sure but I think it's because the RFL are muppets who couldn't organise a pie eating contest in Feka's kitchen...

| Leeds United don't open that upper tier.
Could it be something to do with the ground license?
Just a thought.

They do - for big games - but they have to apply for permission from the police in advance. Seems the RFL didn't do this?

| It's truely amazing that they aren't opening the upper tier. Even if only a few hundred people turned up on the day to sit in it they'd make a few grand out of it.
I just can't understand the RFL's thinking sometimes.

| brilliant - host the game at a ground that needs special permission to let people in.

| It should have been played at the City of Manchester Stadium.
Market the hell out of it and they'd have been looking at 40,000+ imo.

Hopefully they will for the next Four Nations over here. As for it being a sell out with 9000 seats left....this is stupid. When the original tickets sold out the RFL should have put the extra 9k on sale. It;s common bloody sense!

Correct'"
Even if the expected final of Australia - NZ had materialised? These venues have been booked for months. It's a shame the RFL didn't get the necessary permission though.

It's a risk they should have taken imo. At the end of the day Elland Road holds 40k and COM holds 48k so there isn't a huge difference anyway.

You forget this is the yorkshire-centric RFL you're talking about.
