I wonder if Northern Rail would run a special train from Atherton as Halifax would be a pain for loads of coaches. Maybe our excellent Mr Parker could have words with the train company.

I'm sure provisions have been made in the past for lots of coaches there (I remember going to a NRC Semi there one year when Widnes had a load of sponsored coaches), but we're thinking of going on the train so a 'special' would be summat we'd be interested in, I'm sure.

So do I bother booking any coaches or not as I need to know asap folks!

Then everyone has to get to a train station first to catch a train lol lol lol, seriously you had all better decide over the weekend if you want any coaches booking

Coaches are easier, charter trains are very, very expensive and it would reflect in the ticket prices. As for Northern putting a train on you've more chance of Leigh getting it's own station in time than them getting enough stock to run a special service for this.

Maybe GMPTE will also commission us a few special 582's get us all up to Atherton for our specially commissioned Northern Rail trains.



Of course we are going to need coach's Lynda. Running straight from our ground up to Halifax as normal will work just as fine

It will take an hour an a half by train, with a stop and cost around £18, plus the faf of getting to Atherton.

Probably just over an hours drive by coach?

They had them in 2006 when we played HKR if memory serves me right, and when Salford played Donny in 2008.

Seriously mate, if Northern had the stock they would use it on normal services rather than costing themselves tens of thousands a week on cancelled services that are packed.

In the last few years the old stock has died and they loan units from other companies (mainly Arriva and First)

Maybe they have got enough stock lying about to run it, but i'd rather get the coach that faf going to Atherton and getting back to Leigh after and I don't even pay for rail travel.

I'll ring up over the weekend the regulars on the coach most of them won't be going on trains anyway, so we should fill a couple of coaches at least .

We'll be wanting to go on the coach, there's 3 of us and we don't normally travel away.

So the prices are £21.50 return the coaches will be at least half of that and you won't have to pay to get there and back from atherton.
I'll have coach prices tommorrow and I reckon we will aim to go early so people can either watch the other game or go on a pub crawl lol

Yep your memory is bang on.
They have run cheap RL specials for the finals in the past although I suspect the fact the finals now on a Saturday could now scupper that plan.

Wouldn't it mean a change at Victoria to get to Halifax by train? far quicker by car and coach surely?

Be great if we could get loads if coaches like the Hull KR game years ago, atmosphere was as good as I've ever known that day.
