| I have seen a few comments saying he is lazy and doesnt do enough, so decided to check for myself. Bearing in mind the lad is 20 years old these are quite impressive. These are the top 5 in each area that Currie is involved in.
[uTries[/u
Currie 10
Monaghan 9
Ormsby 9
Atkins 6
Ratchford 5
[uAssists[/u
Ratchford 11
Currie 9
Obrien 5
Bridge/Myler/Patton 4
[uTackles[/u
Hill 513
Westwood 510
Currie 472
Sims 440
Laithwaite 413
[uCarries[/u
Hill 283
Westwood 257
Sims 252
Ratchford 228
Currie 204
[uMetres[/u
Hill 2101
Ratchford 1931
Westwood 1727
Sims 1574
Currie 1541
Average Gain is a tough one because the likes of dwyer philbin penny and russell are in there who have barely played. out of our regular starting pack and bench only clark is ahead of currie
[uClean Breaks[/u
Ormsby 11
Ratchford 9
Bridge 8
Penny 8
Currie 7
[uOffloads[/u
Sims 27
Ratchford 19
Hill 17
Currie 16
Westwood 15
[uErrors[/u
Ratchford 20
Westwood 17
Bridge 15
Currie 15
Monaghan 14
So its quite clear to me that he does actually do a lot of the work the forwards should be doing, he is also outshining our playmakers and backs by being top try scorer and having twice as many assists as our halves.

| Glad the stats back him up but even if they didn't it wouldn't matter. The negative morons on here would rather find fault with anything than look at the positives. Currie is probably the best junior we have produced since Harris and Sculthorpe and as long as he continues to progress and listens to the people that matter he has the potential to be a top class international.
He could of course listen to the know f alls on here and give up rugby now and get himself a job in a call centre like all his contemporaries. It is so easy to criticise isn't it

| Do we have number of appearances for the forwards to compare?
I think some of the criticism he has been given (not from me, i really rate the kid) is that he isn't doing the 'grunt' work, which I assume means the difficult carries as we look to get out of our own 20m. That could of course be down to the coaching staff rather than the player. We have big wingers and a big centre in Atkins who do a lot of work getting us away from our own end, do we want Currie doing this or are we better keeping him fresher so he is more of an attacking threat, assuming the rest of the team can get the 'hard yards' job done?

| The Flying Biscuit seems to enjoy pulling out the facts about him, so lets see what he has to say now?
I'm sure he'll say he still doesn't do the yard gaining runs on our own line when really there is no point in him doing them there where we have the likes of Hill, Sims, Westwood etc.

| As has been said before, stats can hide a multitude of sins, and can heighten things over and above what they warrant.
Since Phil Larder started boring every lover in the (RL watching) land, people start quoting stats, as if they know what they're on about. I've been watching the game for a few decades now, and I think I know if a player has "put a shift in", regardless if he's got 35 tackles on his individual work sheet. FFS, I've seen players in P&B make career out of coming in a second late, and being third man in the tackle....and guess what, it get's counted as a tackle. I've seen second row forwards being lucky enough to be "Johnny on the spot" and score a bagful of tries Wayne Sleep would get, and then get scouted to go to Oz, and return a couple of years later with his tail between his legs, and end up wallowing in mediocrity for the remainder of career. You see, stats can lie.
and as for having a go at biscuit....
I don't know the man, probably never will, but he speaks more sense than 90% of the "posters" on here.
I don't think he doesn't rate Currie, he just doesn't get the adolation that some on here, have for him.
I like Currie, he shows great promise. He's had a great debut season, he's played great this season. In between, he's been errrrrr "found wanting". Let's leave it at that, eh?

| Currie is a player I've always admired, simply because he has the kind of natural rugby playing ability that you can't coach or legislate for. Even when he's been in the doldrums (which has been often to be fair), the ability has always been there and I've never doubted he will flourish. All this marquee stuff, yeah fine whatever, but Currie is a player we need to nuture and keep.
I would tend to agree that stats only tell half the story though, sometimes not even half. Some of you may have gathered my all-time favourite Wire player was John Woods, but I'd be the first to admit he was hardly a workhorse in defence. However, I don't pay good money to see players brimming with class doing 30 odd tackles a game. Yes, I know Currie is a forward so that's part of his JD but we've got plenty of other forwards who can do the grunt, but couldn't possibly do what Currie can.
I personally don't want to see a pack made up of 6 workaholic tackling machines who are so-exhausted by the crash-bang-wallop of life in the middle of the pitch that they can barely suck a dummy let alone throw a defence-splitting one.

| My favourite was Phil Blake. I think he lost more shoes In a season than he made tackles. I don't care, he was an awesome player.
I wish we could see a player of his calibre again.
As far as I know he still holds the record for the most try's scored by a hb in a NRL season with 33.
Even in our league you don't get wingers scoring that many.

| Come on, boys. He's a forward, he needs to get his jumper dirty.
No, I don't particularly want another Gary Sanderson instead of a Mark Roberts. I want Mark Roberts, with a fair bit of Sanderson, thrown in for good measure

though you never had a go at me on the original post. You waited till someone pulled out..... the facts....do you see the irony. ....?
FYI I hate pulling out facts and figures I use my eyes and judgement you don't have to agree .... like I said in the post I made during the game on the terraces:
"Westwood and Harrison have worked their socks off. Currie has four carries one try one hospital pass and( been) tackled twice. He ran a great line for his try but he isn't doing it for me. He more than not leaves o brien with no options to his left. ...
Catalan are poor and Dureau's kicking and passing has been poop for anyone thinking about a marquee signing ....."
Thats what happened in the first half plain and simple. ...
If anyone thinks during a woeful performance I'm not entitled to make those comments while others continue to only contribute to this forum by looking at others comments and calling them a moron and having not one shred of rugby league discussion in them you can jolly well off ..
Or you could say sorry pal he did make eight tackle busts you missed them all ill list them if you want?
yet some warrior thinks I don't rate him and want him shipping out. .. don't be dobber. ...
He is lazy in comparison to his Backrowers.... and given our current plight of not being very good It stands out for me. ... For some it doesn't. ... that's why i said he isn't doing it for me. ...Had he been in our 2011 team he'd be absolutely killing it running out wide.
but ship him out.?...if he added aggression and WORK to his game he'd be the closest thing to Sculthorpe we are likely to see .....but he hasn't...so he isn't. ... so ill carry on having a point of view. ..
