I still choose to play Rugby 08 over any of the league games. You can actually play a good running style game rather than slow union play which is what I expected. It's got a great passing/tackle engine too. Plus that overall EA presentation.
The RL world cup 'effort' was the nail in the coffin in my opinion, the damn thing didn't even save your squads if you wanted them up-to-date!
I feel that choosing the Wii is a cop-out because it just isn't a huge step up graphics wise, so its [iprobably[/i easier for the developers, who are claiming the sales figures from the wii will give a good indication of likely sales for the X Box and PS3. I don't see how. Not all of us own three consoles! It will probably take these idiots nearly a year to even decide to make a PS3/X Box version, then about three years to get to the point of releasing a trailer.
Of course, given that its such a minority sport we are not supposed to complain and have to make do with amateurish, bungling game-makers who are releasing this game in MARCH 2010 with last years kits and teams, and this is following a delay too. They should've used this delay to their advantage and at least update the squads/kits, or at the very least work on some downloadable content which addresses this.
Can't see many people forking out on this TBH. I might play it, if I know someone who gets a copy, but I'd definately not fork out on a Wii just for this game, which when I saw the initial hype I actually considered doing!
Frankly, it's time for an overhaul and its a damn shame EA won't take the project on because they'd do a great job (see NHL for a great game with a good fighting engine, too
haha )
I don't expect this game to be anything better than RL2/RL2 World Cup Edition, the video looks the same apart from new cutscenes. Tackling and passing look very similar to the RL2. It always seems like only half the job has been done when you play these RL games. Its a shame. I'd like to be able to play it in a month or so and say 'I was wrong', but I'm pretty sure that won't happen.
