When the Doc came in he was very gung- ho about our own youngsters.It now appears that the current crop some of whom are very promising like Fage,Sneyd and others are slowly being edged out of the team if not possibly the Club (if rumours are to be believed).
I find this a bit concerning as although I want a strong competitive team I would like to see some of these guys retained and flourishing in a much better set up.

We have no idea of retention yet. Might be more of a valid point halfway through the off-season.

other than a rumour about Sneyd on a season loan deal to Cas . I wouldn't jump to conclusions .
Wigan sent Charnley to Hull KR on Loan , they sent Goulding on loan to us, they are now 1st choice RH centre & Wing . They proved their worth elsewhere then fought their way back into contention.
Due to circumstances we had to drop lot of young players in deep on extended runs in the 1st teamthis season.
Chances are they'll not be 1st choice for those positions next season , but I don't believe it means they are not wanted , non of these players got a look in last season , so it's harsh to label Noble or Koukash of mangaging the youngsters out of the club. |

Not a mention of the young forwards ,then?
Necessity has meant that Noble has had a good look at them and,if its true that Jewitt and Godwin are offski, they will be very much a part of the set up next season.
As has rightly been said,Sneyd might be the sacrifice but ,if that's the price of signing Chase then so be it.
My only worry is Fages being sidelined but it would be a bonus to have 3 halfbacks each worthy of a spot.
I think that a plethora of experienced signings on one year deals means that Noble has confidence in some of the kids coming through

There's a danger of being a bit melodramatic here. It should be hard for young players to force their way through; this enforces a level of quality control that ensures that only the cream rises to the top.
The examples or Goulding, Charnley, Reardon etc are all pertinent.

We shouldn't be putting youngsters in just because they came through our academy, it should be on merit alone. I'm sure if they are good enough they will be in the side. I know all the Noble doubters will say he never a gives kids a chance but I believe he will. Surely though first & foremost we want a successful Salford no matter who plays? I'm sure if that happens the academy lads will be brought in in the years to come.

Getting to the top in sport is tough, many try, most fail!
For the reasons that we all know, SCR had no choice but to throw a number of youngsters into the fray and for me, every one of them has given it a go - congratulations to them.
But the simple truth is, to build a squad capable of competing at the top table takes experience and proven ability more so than just youthful enthusiasm.
Watching what the Doc, Nobby and Alan Hunte are building is starting to fill me with some optimism and after so many years of mediocrity and false dawns, how welcome is that?
It's inevitable that there will be some casualties along the way, not all the youngsters are going to make it, but without the systems being put in place now, there wouldn't be a first team to be aspiring to.
So keep the faith - things ARE going in the right direction.
