I'm sure this can somehow play into the conspiracy about the RFL preventing Leigh from getting into SL......

All for it in principle but, the cost of travelling and the ability of part time players to afford the time out, will be considerable to both Toulouse and the Championship 1 clubs.

I think you will find most games in France will either be on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
I'm sure will find that the RFL will help the clubs with Travelling expenses

Having failed in the championship because of the practicalities of international part-time competition, the answer is of course to put Toulouse in League 1.

But hey, at least the new system has placated the championship clubs by giving them a clear and attainable path to Super League and they are all hugely in support of it...............oh

oh........but it's unlikely to work well until SL and Championship are allowed to play to the same rules. There you go Smokey I know that's what you really wanted to say. Can't have a league with clubs all playing to different rules now can we, that just wouldn't be fair

Yeah I'm sure the likes of Whitehaven Workington and Batley are sat there thinking, you know what the problem with last season was, Leigh and Bradford just didn't spend enough more than us.

Swinton and Oldhams only worry about next year is that the wage disparity between them and the clubs getting hundreds of thousands more than them will simply be too small.

Last seasons top Championship side lost 1 game and the bottom side won 1 game. The problem with this system isn't that the top Championship clubs can't spend enough.

So at least it's not just Toulouse getting f@cked over so some clubs can pretend to be SL clubs.

Adding French teams into league 1 is not the answer.

If Toulouse do well they could well be promoted to the Championship for 2017. Then do even better (in the Middle 8s in 2017) and it's Super League for 2018.

Really happy with this decision, if French teams want to join our system then great as long as more come into it, 4 seems a decent number. If they are serious about this European super league idea then maybe teams in Ireland and perhaps Spain should be considered in our system, I think Catalans have played in Barcelona before, which is why I say Spain.

What I would say though is someone needs to put money into the French league. In the long term French teams coming into our system isn't sustainable because of travel costs and home advantage etc. Develop a decent French league and we could have a European competition or expand the world club series further.

I agree with the spain bit get some rich Spaniard in and it would be great then a Italian and away we go brill

It's not just the cost of travel, part time players still have to travel there and back, so time off work will be a major factor.

personally think toulouse should be fast tracked into super league with no threat of relegation. starting in league 1 is not practical at all.

also if the RFL are gonna be helping with travel costs then they should be contributing to catalan dragons travel costs.

Not as yet. But if it happens, which would involve 7-8 hour flights to the UK --- rather than they join the very active USARL only 2-3 hours flight way -- then we can be sure that the RFL is completely incompetent.

Yeah, if the Toronto team joins then the idea was that they would play all their home games in one massive block and then all the away games together as well. They are also going to pay for the travel and accommodation of all the visiting teams.

It could work but I do agree with jean, why cant they just join the usarl? Again this is what I said earlier about the french league. Instead off just developing one system why don't they put money into the American and French leagues and make those systems better and spread the game that way?

Tbf, Catalan have shown that there may be home advantage but, that this turns on it's head when they come over here to play, so there is no overall advantage for them.

Although it's great to see another French club entering the comp, I just don't understand how it can be sustainable.

Given the performance of Frances 14-30 best players yesterday you have to consider the decision to put them in Championship 1 as a realistic one

If they want to raise the standard of French rugby why not send Leeds, Wigan, Saints and Wire to take part in the French League, renaming it European SL Div 1 and rename what we have left as European SL Div 2. Alternatively we could sort out the British game, without the help of the French. Long gone are the days when using Euro or European in a company name was a business generator.

No but competitive games between England and France would be a business generator.
