It's all about bring up the low clubs and dropped the big clubs down to a kind of equilibrium. That is what I can see going on. It's a form of socialism. I'm sure the ex-coal mining and post industrial GMB/Unison rugby league members in dreary northern villages will be happy.

Is it? You don't receive more of the pot the lower you finish, like in Major League Baseball. Lower league teams don't get the first pick of the youngsters (usually) like they do in American football. They generally get less opportunity on tv and aren't as competitive in the transfer market.

In fact I'd go so far as to say there is absolutely no advantage to finishing in a low position as opposed a high one. It can be argued that groups of positions are about the same (1-4 5-8 etc) but finishing in the top 4 puts you in a much better position than the bottom 4.

So how's that socialism?

I'm usually fairly tolertant.
