It won't happen. The clubs are simply flexing their muscles in an attempt to get extra funding.

Playing a dangerous game but they are as frustrated as the rest of us by the constant stalling of the IC being formed.

Surely it would be a financial disaster, given that upsetting Uncle Rupert would probably mean no Fox contract and a drastic cut-back in the game's coverage in his print media. Are there other broadcasters in Australia that could take up the financial slack?

NRL is to foxsports/foxtel as what the premier league is to SKY in this country.

To say that the NRL gets favourable coverage in ruperts rags is also laughable.

Rugby League is doing well in Australia at the moment so, in the grand tradition of our sport, it’s definitely time to shoot itself in the foot again as in the late 90’s

They're probably be a lot mroe like this story if the commision is delayed again, not that the clubs would actually break away. We will probably see a fair few stories in the media trying to run our game down and downplay it's value as the TV negotiations draw closer.

Terrible journalism, totally made it up about clubs breaking away. The email was just a reply from the club on a document they had been sent by the NRL for comment on. Clubs would like more money, surprise, surprise, NRL says it can;t afford anymore till the tV deal is done.
