Great to see some of the damage inflicted on the game in these countries righted after so many years.

result has come in, Wales 6-13 Italy.

Must admit, I am surprised by the result, didnt expect Italy to even get close let alone win, I tip my hat to them, good to see a competitive side in Italy, for whom Rocky Trimarchi played, Wales raced into a 6-0 lead, curtosy of a try for Gareth Thomas, but were pegged back just before half time, and the italians scored shortly after to take lead and held it till the end, no idea what the crowd was like though, no details up as yet.

Plenty of domestic based players in both squads which is always good to see. Have to admit I'm surprised too. This should act as a wake up call for the Welsh before the European Cup.

2700+ the attendance was.
I was quite simply astounded... I expected a 60 point flogging, I have no idea where the Italians found these players from, after 15 minutes the old man turned and said 'They aint no amateurs these blokes'.
Definately pro rugby players from somewhere, whether it be union I dont know.. It should have been a much bigger margin other than the bounce of the ball/stupid decisions 3 on 1.

A few of the players play their rugby in France, Australia and even the UK according to one report I read. To be fair, Wales did give some of the [size=50(very)[/size youngsters a game.

This was a very young Welsh side. But the quality of the Italian performance is the central issue. Welsh rugby league is going from strength to strength off the field and this will begin to translate into results over the coming decade or so.

It was a young side but its great to see some of the, albeit young, structures of Welsh RL in place. Less calling on players with Welsh cats in the garden and real progress on the development of Welsh players. You could argue that they've gone backwards but its a young side with REAL homegrown welshmen in and theres plenty more on the pipeline.
On a negative note its a massive disappointment seeing the twins from my club choosing to respresent England when they're about as English as I am Chinese. These boys are going to be something special and when Wales are losing their absolute best (albeit 17 year olds) to England this is not a good sign.

Easy mate. Did you see the line ups? How many of the Welsh side had played more than a season of NRL or SL?

I watched the game. Most of the welsh players are semi pro players however if Italy were that decent they wouldnt have been flogged by 100 last year, if they have suddenly found a plethora of talent why weren't they in the Euro cup again? They were more than competitive but I reckon if wales had have taken that game seriously they'd have won comfortably. They just didnt seem at the races

Italian Joke side as usual! Mostly Aussies with 5 or 6 Italian born Union players! Thats not a National side and should never be allowed to parade as such. Should be a max of 6 Heritage players and the rest Must be Natives.

Wales are doing things the right way and developing young Welsh guys and also offering them a chance to play for the Nation. I would rather watch a Nation featuring native players than these plastic Nations like Italy, Scotland and Ireland full of Heritage players, but who have less domestically going on than Serbia, USA etc
