| Unsure if theres already a thread for this.. but what a good game, very scrappy in parts but a battling effort by Keighley and a slow start by the Eagles led to some tense stuff being played. Well done Keighley on your win. Will they stay up?
On another note Danny Jones for Wales!!!

| 1,200 there, which is a reasonable improvement on the 850 who would have been at DVS for a midweek game. Although Bramhall Lane always looks empty due to the size of the place. Still crowds are on the up. Scrappy game to watch with poor ball handling by both teams.

| Anything over 1000 I think is decent in our league. If the slightly larger clubs in the champ can get over 2k to games, we could be looking at a season average of 2k, which would be good for the second tier.

| I was there last night, and thought it was a decent game, although the ball handling was a bit poor on occasion.
Just to clarify something, what's the rule on kicking the ball away to delay the restart of play? Wray, I think, kicked the ball away on halfway just after the drop goal, to delay Sheffield's restart. I've seen sin binnings for that sort of thing on occasion, and penalties. Anyone know why it wasn't a penalty to Sheffield on half way? Or do I just not know the rules

A Sheffield player approached the ref about that and, on the telly, he was heard to reply that the clock had already been stopped.

The ball's not in play mate, so technically no offence can be committed, therefore no penalty

So what about when a player interferes when the ball has been kicked dead in goal and the defending side are passing it to the restart on the 20? I seem to remember McGuire being binned for that last year and a penalty being given.

| A penalty can't be given when the games dead, you aren't in play.
He could, and should have sin binned him though.
That game was so bad and error ridden it was entertaining and tense. Enjoyed the second half as the complete morons on both sides tried their best to lose it but 33 errors or whatever it was is ridiculous

| Kicking the ball away was unnecessary and Wray could have ended up in hot water.
I found it a very peculiar game ranging from the poor to the sublime. The tip back from Daley Williams for Hutchinson to score was brilliant - if it had been in superleague they would have been getting the tissues out.

| Credit to Keighley for a committed performance and putting their bodies on the line defensively. When the momentum was with Sheffield it was an intelligent play to take the short kick off and regain possession.
Sheffield were awful and tried to score off every play. It worked for the opening 15 mins of the 2nd half but at no time did they build any pressure apart from that. Their decision making was embarressing and summed up by the incident on half time when they decided against taking the 2 points.

Look at the error count: end of discussion.

| If only all the super league games were this exciting.
I don't care what the standard of play was..... a game like that would catch the neutrals eyes. Someone who has not seen RL before will not know what a good standard of rugby is. I hope there will be more close games like this in future.

I am not denying the errors merely your choice of the word "moron". It is completely disrespectful to those blokes who hold down a full time job and play rugby on the side.
Now if you had said it about a superleague club who had ploughed a fortune into a team of allstars I could understand

No. Chance. In. Hell.
Someone unfamiliar with the sport would look at that and think it was union with how many restarts, knock ons and loose passes there were.
If a SL team made as many errors as that they'd have had 50 put on by anybody, the game should have been tied up 12 minutes to go yet both teams continually blew simple opportunities. It was interesting, simply because both teams wouldn't know their ar*e from their foot

Absolute nonsense.
The first couple of RL games I ever watched were exiting, end to end, lead changing, mistakes a plenty and the result uncertain until the hooter. I did not know the rules, my wife did not know the rules but it was the excitement of the game and the fans around us (both sets) that made us come back for more.

Barry McKenzie thought you might have attended a couple of Harlequins games when I read the words 'mistakes a plenty'.
Then I realised this clearly was not the case as I saw you said the games were 'exciting' 'end to end' 'lead changing' and 'the result uncertain until the hooter'
Barry McKenzie also notices you mention 'the fans around us'.
Obviously not Harlequins RL.
