Yes he has a great running game but he has all of the qualities needed to be a top class number 7 and in my mind is the best talent the game in this countrys had in a long time, he can kick his passing is great from both sides and he can only get better.
When people said that he couldn't organise or dictate a game kinda reminded me of those sad racists in the states that said that blacks couldn't be quarterbacks and weren't they proved wrong.

Seem to remember he played at full back against us in a friendly a couple of seasons ago. Sts switched teams at half time, he was part of the academy side. Pretty much single handedly caused us more problems than the 1st teamers did in the other 40 mins.

The danged-est impressive yo'ngster t'come through super league these last three years. Need t'find an equally class partner fo' him when Englan' is playin'. I’d like t'see him an' Rob Burrow given a chance t'rip it up on th' internashunal scene.

Any team in super league would jump at the chance to have him at their club, same for Sam Tomkins. Richie Myler though, probably not. Would probably only be a handful of takers for him.

Im still undecided wether he will go onto be as good as Sean Long though.

His all round kicking game was excellent against Wire, and every game he seems to add something else to his armoury.

I thought in losing Longy we'd suffer hugely in terms of being directed around the pitch, but Eastmond is proving me wrong.

He is a quality player but as usual in the UK....if he doesn't play for "your club" he's not that good and if he plays for "your club" he's a potential world beater.
All I know is from what I have seen of him so far, he is a really good prospect and a player who matures with every game.

Automatic selection is the reason the likes of Farrell & Sculthorpe had a dozen games each at stand-off for GB whilst Tommy Martyn couldn't BUY a single cap.

Sorry FTV but its true. Every time Tommy looked like he was going to get a shot he would get injured. Then when he got a run on he was too old. I can understand why Tommy never played for GB.

Eastmond has looked good at both 1 and 7. Brett Hodgeson is the best full back in Superleague and (I think) he plays more like a stand off in attack. There is nothing stopping Eastmond from playing at 7 in attack and 1 in defense. He did this for most of the HKR and Warrington games.

My memory may be playing tricks on me, but I recall being annoyed on numerous occasssions when TM was overlooked.

in 2000 he scored 22 tries and was voted 'Players Player of the Year' (age 29).

I remember when Martyn was snubbed by Goodway, who said his form didn't warrant selection for GB. This seemed pretty odd at the time given that Tommy had been Saints MoM in three of his last four games.

For sure, TM's injuries cost him rep football. Which was a great pity as GB was forever crying out for a good stand-off. I hated all that play-it-safety-first rugby with either Farrell or Scully at SO. Neither had any pace, just as neither could play off-the-cuff.

It's worth remembering that despite two knee reconstructions, Martyn's tries-per-game ratio was better than his more celebrated, more [ifashionable[/i SL rivals - Henry Paul & Iestyn Harris. And I'd have paid DOUBLE to watch him put his trademark Cumberland throw on one of the Aussie forwards.
