Although the grass on the banking is regularly cut, it is long enough to obscure the view of most resident insects and small mammals, except dormice, which can climb up grass stalks. Why on earth can't the club management get it cut properly and not discriminate against these poor creatures in this way?

On a serious note, does anyone know the reason they can't get rid of the stupid tall speaker things? I seem to remember a reason being given a while back to do with Health & Safety, but can't remember what it was.

I swear those things are strategically placed to obscure my view from the pop side of any major incident.

If they are for health & safety, it would be nice if they could at least be shortened (although I suspect the cost of that is what has stopped it happening already).

They're there because the ground needs a fitted PA for H&S reasons. The PA used on match day is brought in on the day.

As for shortening them, I think you've answered your own question there.

I wonder how much it would cost to get them shortened. If it wasn't too much, I actually wouldn't be surprised if a quick whip round on the pop terrace might pay some towards it (since everyone on that side gets irritated by them at some point). But again, I suspect it's a lot more than one would expect.

If the speakers are long and thin, they'll work just the same if placed horizontally as if placed vertically, shurely?

Its all Peter Hoods fault, he should be sacking all the grounds staff immediately and buying in some top Aussies to cut it.

They had all the equipment stolen back end of last year and I'm still waiting for the order for new ones
