It's depressing to say it but you are so right. Rotten game, rotten ref again and even worse, top side over the season puts a display in like that.

Saints displayed the Leeds, boring but effective rugby to win big games tactic. Our tries came from just running at them, we didn't have to do anything else.

Which will work against a knackered catalan team, aided by practically every decision humanly possible going against them.

You mean other than the blatatent forward pass that lead to their first try, and not sending off a kick?

Kick is irrelevant in context, game was already done. Escare forward was cancelled out by the bosc one which should have stood earlier.

But it shouldn't. It was a knock on. A blatant knock on. I don't understand why the sky "commentary" kept going on about it ... Any other day and no one would of blinked an eyelid. Same with the Percival "forward pass" that never was. He was fortunately for all judging it, next to a line, he passed it on the line, and Makinson caught it behind the line. Stevo summed it up "oh ... Duport did get a hand to that ... Sadly" - people are claiming "the rfl decided who they wanted to win before the match" but the Sky team decided earlier!

Now, that's not to say the ref had a good game in any way. He was dire. And yes, some decisions did go saints way. Makinson had a foot in touch when chasing back at one point. And I think we lost the ball in the tackle once that we got away with. But Catalans got as many, and had in addition the luxury of making a cup of tea every tackle they were so slow. Oh, and Pelissier made 2 spears that went beyond the horizontal (the one in the middle was fine iirc)

Anyway. Irrelevant or not, kind of disproves the saints got ALL the calls.

We have nothing to lose next week. It's a one off game where anything can happen.

Saints in the second half was a far more blatant knock on and it was allowed.

It's really not though. We are probably the biggest outsiders ever going into the Grand Final, I'd have us as less likely to win than the likes of Hull were when they got to the Final. It would take something truly amazing to happen for us to win at OT.

It's funny because just a few weeks ago it was saints fans saying all this. It was saints fans writing off your own chances. No chance. But nothing has really changed. If you'd said to most saints fans then, despite your apparent dire straits, your route to the grand final will be a knackered Cas team at home, a week off, then a knackered catalans team at home, you would have all fancied your chances then, when apparently all was lost.

No once again another who buys into the SKy mantra.

The ref blew the whistle way before Escare even ran at the line. The Saints players stopped a good 5 seconds before the ball was in a position to be over the line. Had the ref not blown then the Saints players would have played to the Whilst meaning Escare would not have had a free run at a ball no one was playing at.

In terms of your comments about who we have played. If Leeds finished top you'd have had the nice run in. One of the benefits of winning the LLS.

We've not won it for a while but THIS club despite injuries, suspension, disruption etc... does not finish the season in 7th place!

I can't believe the amount of negativity on this board tonight. We've just got to the Grand Final ffs!!! We're gonna have a cracking night out. If we get beat then so what, nobody expected us to get there anyway.

Warrington and Wigan are gonna knock the hell out of each other. It'll hopefully be an intense, absorbing and ultimately draining battle between them. And I hope the winner limps into that grand final next week to play us. Enough of all this negativity now, bad calls by referees, SKY being biased against us etc Like the title of this thread, I remember 99 so well. Bradford steam rollered everyone that year. They were a major feature in Stevo's wa*k bank. Bradford were gonna stuff us. But through sheer grit, last ditch defence and a little bit of luck, we beat them on the night. Only a fool would write us off next week, no matter who we play. Saints, even without our key players can pull out a performance. We can win...

It's a good achievment to top the league and get to Old Trafford with the injuries we suffered to key players during the year.

Maybe at the back of my mind it might have come at bad as we will be massive massive underdogs, probably the biggest since hull played a very good saints team.

At the end of the day, it gives us a 50/50 chance and anything can happen.

Anyone else think Wello didn't knock on under their sticks? Looked to me like he kicked it and he was certainly claiming that to the ref. Oddly Sky commentators didn't notice.

Yep I noticed that. Also noticed they scored off one of the worst forward passes one seen and also noticed they should have had a player sent off for a kick/trip.

Its quite ironic that a Wire fan is giving Saints advice on how well they need to play in a big occasion.
