i would like to thank the Leeds fan who congratulated me and my daughter on the way out of the ground for the way that he accepted the defeat and Wigans performance, with a pat on the back and well played wigan

i have for many years had a love hate relationship with many of your fans (mainly hate) who IMO have been so blinkered / unable to give credit to any opposition (dont worry we have some as well)

but the way this particular fan approached us and congratulated us made me want to comment

i know this may not be appreciated or accepted by some because we won, but i was there when you beat us 70-0 a few years ago and even then some of your fans were ungracious in winning, that i was arguing with them because i applauded Leeds and Wigan off the pitch

I can't stand Wigan, and I certainly wouldn't even think about looking at their forum tonight, but if you look through this one you'll see nothing other than Leeds fans saying how well Wigan played. That and people wanting to murder their own coaching staff.

i've had a quick flick through some of the posts on the forum

very fair in most cases and acceptance that wigan were the better side tonight

criticism of mcdermott poss unfair, but you had the same last year midway through the season when some fans wanted him out and he got you to the CC final and won the GF

i dont always post on opposition fans forums because you often get slated but tonight i felt that the fan deserved credit for the way he spoke to me and my daughter

Was asked when i returned home if i regretted going to watch the game and in a way i can stay i'm glad i went because as much as it hurt coming against us i could still appreciate the Wigan performance as a RL fan.

I rarely post on other teams forums but I have to say the comments and assessment from the Leeds fans is a pleasant surprise. I thought I had married the only intelligent Yorkshire person on the planet but I guess not

I have noticed this season the Wigans fans posting on here has been much more sensible than it has been since 2010.

I thought the Bog Brushers were on top form last night - very vocal, some great chants and well behaved (apart from the cockend who thought it was a good idea to lob a bottle of beer at Bailey).

Although I suspect that on Wednesday morning someone is going to walk out of their stationary cupboard at work saying "who the fekk has had all the receipt rolls?".

Listen, credit where credits due, we toed the line and were battered by a very clinical and ruthless side who were bang on form with a point to prove. Any genuine Leeds fan will tell you the same, we were nowhere near you last night, faster, fitter, stronger you name it. Last night was last seasons Catalan game, our own indiscipline gave you easy yards that you really punished us for.

Sometimes a harsh lesson is needed, last night we got one. The bar has been set, it's up to us to get past it.

Somwhere near that bar of structure and intensity would be nice.

What did you Wigan fans expect? We are not raving lunatics

Wigan are by far and away the best team in the league at the moment, we were ripped to shreds by you last night, no excuses from anyone

That is the culture that he and Maguire have built at Wigan. Attention to detail, make sure you do the basics, and then play intense rugby league with a structure with multiple dummy runners. Last night they didn't even need the star quality of Tomkins, O'Loughlin etc. But rest assured it's there when they need it, plus Hock to come back into the fray.

Last night was no fluke, the just rewards for preparation and well guided effort. Wigan got out of the game what they put in ...... as did Leeds.



As a Leeds fan I was elated by the 70-0 only to be gutted a week later. Having witnessed and held on to Wigan's record defeat (58-3 in '72 - IIRC Wigan players were perhaps in the middle of a dispute and sent over a scratch side) to then genuinely beat that mark was manner from heaven only for St Helens to quite incredibly top it (75-0 V Wigan in the Challenge Cup) a week later.

In fact feeling gutted doesn't really come close.
