| McGoldrick at loose forward is a recipe for disaster, you need players who can tackle at that position, McGoldrick can't...at all.
1. Owen
2. Dixon
3. Thompson
4. Arundel
5. Youngquest
6. Chase
7. Orr
8. Millington
9. Milner
10. Huby
11. Mitchell
12. Ferres
13. Jones
14. Clark
15. Emmitt
16. Walker
17. Davies/Holmes

| regarding mcgoldrick sadly there are far more questions than answers
admittedly he is an exciting attacking player and that is all he brings to a side imo
but where do you play him as he can't tackle and he cant catch high balls either?
will he be offered a new contract?
would you fans re-sign him?

No, hopefully the club aren't stupid enough to give him a new contract too.

Imo i would give him one more year, just as a back up.
He's settled in castleford, he needs to be part of the club, ie in some capacity as coaching or on the media side of things. I think his playing days after this year is over. Maybe a NL1 club might offer him a contract but doubt it.
Hope he stay at cas in some capacity

| McGoldrick will be playing loose-forward this season and it will be from the bench. This is unless either Richie, Rangi or Danny get injured, in which case he'll play FB/SO
It's a shame because he offers tremendous utility value as a player and with the right application and performances could be an integral part of the squad for Cas.
As for his tackling, he played well on Boxing Day and being in the pack with others around him I think we'll see a different Goldy.
After all, he was playing full back and when sides are walking through our defence on a regular basis (Mathers had the same problem last season too) it can make players worse than they actually are.

But he's NEVER been able to tackle, so how does being crap at full back explain him being crap as a centre, stand off, scrum half or loose forward

| Hmm, tricky when you dont see trianing every day. I think the loose forward debate for McG is a lot easier if you make a few statements:
Loose is the position that is the most creative, dynamic of the forwards and acts like an extra half back when you have the ball. ALSO it is the utility tackling position, you expect to fill in tackling in prop and the back row overs and unders channel, typically I would expect 13 to regularly and routinely make the most tackles in a game. Personally, and with all due respect, mentioning Goldy and Vowles in the same breath and position gives me the answer I need.
That said, looking at our depth I think there are only a couple of choices - Let him have a run at centre and save Shaw/Griffin. Put him on the bench to fill in for injury or if Danny needs a spell.
So, I am going conservatively with:
1. Owen
2. Dixon
3. Thompson
4. Arundel or McGoldrick
5. Youngquest
6. Chase
7. Orr
8. Emmitt
9. Milner
10. Huby
11. Millington
12. Jones
13. Ferris
14. Clark
15. Walker
16. Jackson
17. Arundel/McGoldrick
If we saw that team for 20 of our 28 rounds, then I think we could be getting a nosebleed! Sadly already we have recoveries and injuries.

| No way should McGoldrick be in the centres instead of Arundel. For me who shouldn't be on the bench either as we'd have a 2nd hooker on the bench taking up 1 of the 4 spots, then I'd wanna see 2 props and a 2nd rower.

Depends how you define crap. If you have a blind hatred of the guy, like you seem to have, you're only going to notice the negatives in his game.
As I said, on Boxing Day McGoldrick was really good in defence and even put one good shot on a Bulls player. Equally you can hardly justifiably base an assumption on him playing loose or centre given the fact that they're positions he's very rarely played during his career with Cas.
In the middle of the park, attacking wise he can be dangerous and defensively, mixing with some of the big guys and having them beside him can only help him.

I would on reduced terms (if it is to be the truth on how much he is on) For all his negatives he can cover alot of positions and when his head is switched on correctly he offers us an extra spark in attack.
