Now, I'm all for extroverts and game changers. Someone with fresh ideas and new money. However, I find this quote alarming:

Koukash:
"It's my money that I'm putting in. I need to have a greater say on how the sport is run".


Personally I find that statement rather arrogant.



Can we trust SL chairmen to have a bigger say, given the recent financial calamities? If they got £50m in sponsorship they'd only go and blow it on players? They need to learn financial discipline first. Or at least stick to the rules which attempted to bring that stability.

He's quick to point out the flaws, but he has very few answers

I just think any extra money that comes in will just go to the same chairmen that have ballsed up over the last three years. The RFL (as bad as they may seem) must retain control of the big monies that come into the game. They must distribute the monies from sponsorship to other recipients as well as the financially mistrust-worthy SL chairmen.

Hes right on two things it's his money and things are not working Regarding the chairman having more say that's ok as long as it's all chairman of every club and not just S/L clubs who want all the money and are only looking after themselves and not the whole of RL in this country

Its a bad thing as look at football where you have had chairman changing a clubs colours (Cardiff) and another changing the clubs name (Hull) 'cos they want to. Let them have more say with the game and who knows what they will change??
Actually he has changed the name of Salford to the Man United brand = Red Devils, come on it is always going to be Man Us nickname not Salford RLFC's.
The guy will only be in the sport for 5 or 10 years tops and he will be off yet his 'changes' will be forever!

The majority of your post is incorrect. Salford were known as 'The Red Devils' years before Manchester United adopted the moniker, and held that nickname until the late 90's. So, Koukash is actually embracing the clubs history.

He is a 'fly by night' and the thought of people like him having a say in the running of the game makes my skin crawl. Saying that the present RL Hierarchy makes it crawl even more. Changes are definately needed but new ideas must appear to give any hope.
