Halifax could be competing for a significant cash payout in 2014, according to Chairman Michael Steele.

League Weekly understands up to £400,000 will be on offer for the top two Championship teams next term as the RFL move to finalise the sport's restructuring.

The proposed fees are designed to help transform promoted second-tier clubs from being part time to full time and it is believed the sizeable sums are going to be available for those who finnish third and fourth on the Championship ladder.

Plans to reduce the number of top flight Super League teams from 14 to 12, the axed pair joining the Championship from 2015 are being finalised by Red Hall bosses.

And in the view of Steele, the aformentoned funding is likely to come in to act as support for promotion chasing clubs against more established and full time Super League clubs.

"Where we finish next season is likely to determine our funding for 2015 admitted Steele."

"The figures are still under discussion but the RFL will have significantly more funding available as a result of the two teams leaving Super league."

Meanwhile the clubs recruitment drive is continuing at an impressive rate for next season.

It is believed Batley Bulldogs hooker Paul Mennell is close to agreeing terms, a move which would see him link up with formr Mount Pleasant boss Karl Harrison.

Absolutely, this year is just for prestige and a notch on your honours board and we have to just write it off as a lesson learned now, a bad day at the office with some players who did not perform and bad luck with injuries.
Next season we have to get it right and be in that top 2 ready for the huge challenge that is 2015, we can with the right signings and Karl upping his game plan on how we play, can we afford a backs coach?
I really hope we can step things up, we fell short this time but we just need to up things about 20% which can be done.

Was it Lee Greenwood? Im not even sure he played for us in the Championship. I seem to remember it been Jon Goddard that the ball should have been passed to.

Goddard did score I seem to remember (first try) and had a good game giving, was it Folau as good as he got.

I think it was Lee supporting Andy G in the second half playing towards the corner of the North and West stands.

Gorski chose to try to throw the dummy just a few yards out which Billy didn't take and took him ball an all leaving Greeny well peeded off as it looked like a walk in and a nice carreer stat went missing for him.

If it was Goddard then fair enough.

Yes both did play in the Championship. I seem to remember Gibbo playing at a game over in Widnes and scoring a couple of tries..... Wasn't it the season we had just signed Mark Roberts???

Can't remember who against , but Roberts who was certainly a bit of a pinball machine , must have brushed aside half a dozen tackles but ended up in practically the same spot as where he received the ball . Whatever happened to him
