Makes me wonder if the rumour I heard is actually true that Whitehaven, Harlequins and Wakey will all go bust and have to start again? Well one down 2 to go???? (not wishing this on them by the way its not a good thing for a club at all and the game) Won't miss Harlequins as they really have added nothing to the game of RL apart from you get a trip to London and the game can say it is played in London but you can say that for London Skolars! Also a lot of us get a trip to London anyway with the Challenge Cup Final so what? They have gone bust before but it was smokescreened by the RFL surprise, surprise. The day they took on the name Harlequins which will always be associated with their bigger and richer RU landlords they sold out imo. Will the RFL really let them drop out of SL and get egg on their big fat faces??? Feel sorry for Wakey they seem to be been the whipping boys for the RFL.

Surely if quins go pop and drop down they will try to push Toulouse up to replace them

so what happens if a SL team do same, 9 point reduction will mean nothing as no relegation.

If Harlequins do drop out of SL for whatever reason the RFL will look to replace them with a "Expansion Club", the only viable one at the moment is Toulouse...

Brew is correct, it's a deal that the SL clubs agreed between themselves IIRC, 11 traditional area clubs plus 3 expansion area clubs, until anyone else throws their hats into the ring, Toulouse are the only suitable expansion club.

They add junior development for kids playing RL in London through their junior teams, they probably added a few million to the games TV deal as well.

This is my take on things at Quins in recent years

As clubs there is a lesson we need to take head of

I have taken a more than passing interest in the Quins board in the last 2/3 yeasrs , Why ? , well quite simply they are exactly like us and share many problems that we have

They are tring to run and build a club when all around them is apathy , they have a multitude of much larger better supported sports clubs on their doorstep , they are low profile in their area

Why will they go bust if that is what happens

Simple , they have done little to nothing to build the business side of their club , they have not marketed themselves any where near enough , they have just assumed that eventually enough people will realise they are there and come along

They have ' fiddled ' why Rome was burning

They are a lesson to all of us , fans and owners of clubs

Just being there is no longer good enough to survive , in the modern world you have to work hard to find customers , you have to court them , make them feel special , you have to provide entertainment , value for money , a safe enviroment , you have to give them a sample of what they can have [ yes free if necessary

What Quins have done is

NOTHING


They are /will be a lesson to all of us , as long as the relevant people open their eyes and see the lesson

Fail to do that and eventually the same fate will befall those that dont learn from that lesson

Nail on the head there Starbug. Thats where the majority of RL sides let themselves down.

Crusaders did it and it was all just brushed under the carpet. No doubt 'Quins and Wakey will be let off and 'Haven spanked.

Doubt if Wakey would be let off.

Wakefield could play this cleverly though... I'm not sure that there are any problems at the club. But if there are as others seem to suggest then they could do a lot worse than wait to announce whatever trouble is brewing at the same time as London.

Even the RFL could not be seen to treat two clubs so differently in such similar circumstances and if they are still intending on propping up the London club would have to behave in a similar manner to the Wildcats.

This is all conjecture and I actually hope and/or believe that the Wildcats are not in as much hot water as others suggest.
