Another defeat due to terrible discipline, it cant always be the refs fault and i hope to god Sandy doesnt use that excuse this week. Cant believe we kept it so close for so long, we never gave ourselves a chance to win it, territory and field position must have been 80-20 in their favour 2nd half. For such an important game its so frustrating to play like that. We made Cas look good which they, no disrespect, are not. That said we are very poor at the moment, and these kinds of games are ones we have to win if we are going to make the playoffs. Cant help but feel disillusioned this evening

Good decision. Optimism is fading fast and it will take a massive performance next week to give Wigan a close game. Feels to me like we have hit the wall as a SL team, like we have gone as far as we can. It felt like that at the end of JMs reign, but the fresh start of Sandy and the new players he brought in has faded and we are no further on in our progression. I realise people will say he is there to bring the youth through and we wont see the results yet. But the fact is our problems as a team are the same week in week out with little sign of improvement. Need an impressive end to the season to save Sandys arris, cant see it happening though.

A loss next week is inevitable. Penalties, penalties and more penalties, when will we ever learn. Imagine what Wigan would have put past us today??!! Sandy tho has played his card today by not playing Eden or Patterson because of next week. But i'm afraid it wont make a difference. We have gone backwards at a considerable rate, and it's getting worse. Lets pray there is investment around the corner because we are in a terrible mess right now.

Summary of post match interview- We have 8 players out we had no choice with team selection. Cas had a full strength team apart from Webster. We spent 80 mins defending our line and we showed good commitment and effort. Eden was simply dropped for Hall at FB.

Didn't think he sounded too bad TBH. Sounds a lot more positive than he did earlier this season (after the Salford game for instance) and for most of last. I think he knows his future either way and is obviously relaxed about it

And there was knack all wrong with Eden its just that Hall deserves his chance at fullback.

Nick Pinkney's opinion was interesting. He said the penalties Rovers concede are by and large correctly given (in the context that the ref made no difference to the result today) but they result from Rovers being "completely out of control" in defensive sets, resulting in panicky poorly executed tackles and other infringements.

Is Chris Chester the defensive coach? i'm not sure. But as Sandy gets it with both barrels after most the defeats this year, Chris Chester as defensive coach (if that's what he is) should be taking some of the criticism also. Just what on earth does he do?

His future I believe was sorted weeks ago when he was allowed to moan to the media about the easter games,if he was too be given an extension then he would have been talked too and told not to make himself look silly with daft comments.

Pinkney hit the nail on the head. I suspect that Sandercock's voice is that monotonous, that the team fall asleep during the defensive structure lectures.

And he was bob on, although I must add the caveat that you could give a penalty at pretty much every tackle and play the ball in rugby league if you wanted to.

In November 2011, Sandercock identified that Rovers defensive patterns were one of our biggest deficiencies, this problem has been added to by him coaching the team to give away endless penalties that give up territory and possession.

First time I've said it, but enough is enough, Sandercock is not getting the best out of this group of players and needs to go.

Not wishing to disagree with anything said here but I would like to offer some credit to Castleford who I thought were tremendous today.

Rovers second half tries which came from a Rovers kick off which Cas didn't collect and a Caro interception gave the scoreline a false look of an even contest.

Rovers were in many respects architects of their own downfall but credit where it is due, well played Castleford. Far too good for us on the day.

Painful to watch. Don't think can face another away game under the current regime.

Cas were gash. A half decent side would have put 60+ on us today with the volume of possession they had.

Maybe but IMO when Cas field something close to their best line up they are nobody's pushovers on their own ground as Leeds & Wigan found out earlier this season.

This isn't meant as any defence of Rovers indeed it would have been interesting if Rovers had been smart enough or good enough to create a level playing field possession wise but we were not.

In no way do I wish to excuse the failings of Rovers as I have said we were not smart enough or good enough but the goal line defence was a highlight and kept the score down plus we got a couple of tries against the run of play.

The idea that whenever one team wins comfortably against another team it is entirely down to the failings of the losers and nothing to do with the qualities of the winners is I suggest, unlikely.

If the Cas squad stay relatively healthy I predict there will be other losing visitors no doubt equally unmagnanimous as yourself.
