rovers 16s won 52 - 12 good weekend all round.

Sounds like a great effort because we didn't have our half-back, Matty Beharrel playing.

Surely this result must be a mistake? I clearly heard Adam Pearson telling the masses at Hull fc's last fans forum that they had signed all of the best youngsters in the city.

Also stated we have a gap at 18/19 to fill hence why we have a few 16/17 year olds playing under 19s but be selective to suit your agenda if it makes you feel beter

Not too sure mate, was 2 fairly poor teams again,

Robbo the number 9 and the number 11 had decent games, young Hallett showed a couple of good touches

As for our best youngsters, AP means the groupd that will now be the 16's,Tyson Wilson, Parker, Harrison and co

You have done well with your picks from that age group, no question, but it is still incorrect to say that he has signed all of the best players. I'm sure you are familiar with the lads from Wyke that Rovers have signed.

Think the majority of the squad has come from the west of the city

Kieran Moran has he potential to go all the way, needs a bit of fitness though and not take it all on himself.

Liam Harris needs to learn its a team game but he has the right sort of cockiness to make a good half

Trevor Oluchi is a big physical lad and Blanchards a decent player too, IIRC Hes fast as fook but throws up when he runs too quick

Fair point that this group of 16s accross the city is one of the best for years, but we all know what happens to young lads in Hull once they get past that age and the temptations that lie ahead

how many of these 16s will actually make it on average probably one from each side if your lucky

I thought Marvin Lee was very good. It was unfortunate for Hull's 7 Wilkinson, he has never had much luck playing against Rovers.

Marvin Lee reminds me of Liam Salter in so far as he has never been the stand out player in his age group but has made small and constant improvements to his game whenever i have seen him play over the past 2 or 3 years. He must work very hard at his game.

Difficult to choose a man of the a match

I do not buy into the ''temptations scenario'' in Hull Hutchie. Leeds, Saints and Wigan have the same social make up as Hull and yet they still manage to produce numerous professionals from their amateur clubs. No mate, in my opinion it the quality of coach's' at FC and KR that are responsible for the poor flow into the first team. It's been like this for donkeys years as far back as the 80's.

A good win for the 19s today beating a rugged saints side,we were 24-6 down at one stage 2 knock ons on first tackle both leading to tries .A very disciplined second half scoring 3 tries saw rovers home after a half time turn round at 24-12.matty baharrell and matty marsh led the team around well ,full back josh guzdek was my man of the
match scoring a couple of tries,the win was marred by a late injury to the impressive scot ellerington.

Thought that Matty Marsh and Josh Guzdek were in a class of their own today. Macca Hallet is clearly going to be as good as he wants to be aswell. As i have said on the other forum, beating sides at 16/17/18/19 years of age has never been a problem for Rovers since we launched our Academy in 2008. Lets start to bring players through to our first team as frequently and as such high quality as Saints, Leeds, Wigan and Wire do. The raw materials are there for all to see.

Marsh, Hallett and Beharrell have all looked impressive this season, to name a few. But it's the team performance and work rate I have been impressed with. The U19s competition shows we are progressing as a club. The 19s is an equal playing field,unlike reserves where teams with more depth/budget have a stronger reserve team outside their firsts. (Not that I agree with not having a reserves competition).

These lads have shown they can more than cope with the best young talent that other Super league teams can offer.

This shows that given time and providing we can tie these players to longer contracts we can start becoming more self sufficient as a team, developing our own players.
