Be interesting to see what Rhys's stats were yesterday, IMO if it wasn't for Clints outstanding game yesterday, Rhys would have been MOM, if he keeps this up I believe he will be offered a new contract, second row certainly suits him.

He just gets better and better his work rate is phenomenal often taking the ball up twice in a set and making the hard yards.He got hit with a couple of massive tackles yesterday and just got on with it. I would agree prop certainly suits him

I'll be honest and say that up to now I haven't really seen what all the fuss is about with Rhys, but he's really stepped up to the mark since being put in the pack.

He has been playing Prop.

I for one am amazed at the progress the lad has made at prop, he is certainly physically built to play the modern game at prop and he can take the hits as well as drive yards with two or three on his back. We also have the added bonus of knowing if he does support or break a tackle, he has the pace of a centre. Could play himself into a new contract.

I'de give him a new contract the lad has never let us down no matter what posistion he has played

Hes been playing well, but no better then Wheeldon did given his first chance yesterday, imo he has to go at the end of the season if he is a quota player.

In his last three games, all at prop, Ryhs has produced the best form of his career at Craven Park. IMO he will be one of the first names on the team sheet unless his form takes a dip. Feel for Wheeldon, who despite an impressive debut, will still be behind Vella, Fozzard, Makke and Lovegrove in the pecking order.

Jon Sharp would be the Phelps of RL in that case

164 meters gained against Celtic, was the second most in the team with Ben Cockayne getting 221 (can blame a poor kicking game from Celtic and good kick pressure from Rovers for this) which is still very good.

Closest to Rhys was Newton with 129 meters.

Lovegrove is playing very well. But if he is a quota player for next season would you really want him filling a spot?

That would entirely depend on hopw he does for the rest of the season, up to now he looks as though he is a natural prop, if he improves he would be worth a punt for another couple of seasons.

I think we're past the days of taking a "punt" on aussies. Id rather we take a punt on a young english prop, or use the quota space for a proven Aussie or Kiwi.

The point is, if he has a good season as a prop why WOULDN'T we try and keep him, we have all seen some of the so called superstars who come over with big reputations only to turn out bags of $hit. By the end of 2009 he will have had two and a half seasons with us, will know the team and play to its strengths. Yes we could let him go and bring in some top Aussie only to find we have someone who excels in NRL but is useless in SL, lets face it the past few seasons have been littered with them.
