A decent Super League debut for the team he supported as a boy today.

Ran hard and put his body on the line in defence and played like a player playing for his shirt and keen to impress.

Looks like one of his main attributes is that he's got a good engine on him for a prop.

All in all a solid debut...

Impressive display from him. It's a shame his try was disallowed, I'm sure he'd have loved to score on his Super League debut for Rovers. Competition for places is great this year and when have good cover in most areas.

Impressive debut from a squad member but on current form still behind Vella, Fozzard, Makka and Lovegrove, who continues awesome form in his new position at prop. Reckon his stats in the last three games must be up there with any forward in S.L.

On that performance yesterday i would say Scott played his way into the team for the next few games at the expense of macca. He looked like he could break a tackle and was a very willing runner of the ball and looked good in defence. Overall a very good debut

Would like to have seen a couple of offloads, he regularly took two or three players with him on his drives and a quick slip out would have caused some problems, but all in all a good debut.

Dont think i ever saw an offload from Scott while at Hull, maybe something he should work on, but not every prop has the ability to produce a "good" offload

I agree with you on this. I thought Wheeldon drove the ball very well and he took a couple of VERY big hits and did not get phased at all, plus he regularly took a number of tacklers back a few yards. Perhaps if this his is capability strength wise, Morgan could get some coaching done to improve the area of slipping the ball out, if he watcheed the DVD of the game the Celtic forwards had this off to a tee.

Good solid debut, did enough to earn a place next week ahead of Macca/Netherton.

Not every prop needs to do this though, if you coach them into trying for an offload, is it to the detriment of his leg drive in the collision? Look at Danny Sculthorpe, when fit he is one of the best offloaders in SL, yet when he hits the collision that is all he trys, instead of continuing with the drive to look for extra yards.

Keep Scott as he is and he will go ok

Yes but that was more to do with them tyring and our pace and big hits in the second half, they have a skillful set of forwards.

They did break our line a few times in the first half with some great offloads, but our scrambling defence was excellent. They put everything into the first half and still went in losing, they had very little to offer in the second half and it seemed like damage limitation at times from them.

Great debut for the lad, would think it made morgs mind up yesterday that with Vella out the prop's should be Fozzard, Macca, Wheeldon and Lovegrove who was outstanding yesterday. Netherton for me just doesn't cut it at prop..

Because he ain't a prop, he is to light. Netherton, however is a good squad player to have and never lets us down, he is much better as a scond rower operating wide.

Top debut looking for a solid season from the lad. Dont forget he is young but he has SL experiance

Fully agree but morgs seems to be trying to use him and Lovegrove as rotation props, this seems to be suiting Rhys but not Jason. If he's on the bench for his versitility then fine but it doesn't seem to be that and I think Wheeldon is the better option for this role.

At 17st I wouldn't stay so!

He doesn't conceed penalties, doesn't knock-on and makes 7 - 10 yards every drive. His main strength is in defence though.

Wheeldon will push himself in as a regular in the 17 well before the end of the season, his performance against Celtic was very good.

He was solid, steady & dependable with his drives, took some massive shots & gave a few back. IMO he will only get better the more game time he gets.

Glad Scotty got a game and played well. Plenty of promise.

Netho has not done too much for me so far this season and against the big Warrington pack id be tempted to swop him for Mills on Sunday.
Wheeldon deserves to retain his place in the 17
