Just saying I'm not sure exactly what he has said, or at least what it means. The implication in the article is that he's promised to spend the full cap, which would be a nice thing to have communicated with passes on sale shortly.

I couldn't give a stuff if we spend full cap or not and neither should you luv. I've already got our passes sorted for next season regardless of whether we sign Greg Inglis or Colin Inglis.

Paea looks nailed on mate. Great signing in my opinion, although I think he's the only good signing you've made so far. I'm sure there are more to come though.

Do you see much NRL? It'd be nice to get a forward who wins collision. We never really did solve the problem of finding an adequate partner for Vella (Ward, Mills, Crossman, Fozzard, Clinton - we had enough attempts), and now Vella himself is gone. Hopefully O'Hara will do a job and Clinton will be replaced or regain a bit of form.
Horne has looked okay at Hudds, Hodgson has always seemed fairly competent and a good finisher - already 30 though. Taulapapa I've barely seen.

The only way we'll get much better is if Taylor, Watts, Cox, Sheriff and the like kick on.

I'm actually quite happy with our recruitment so far. Hopefully we will see a direct replacement for Newton and Briscoe come in too. ALL of the players we have signed are argubly better then the ones they are replacing (with only Misi for Ben a ? for me) or are homegrown players and I would hazard a guess that we are saving some cap money particulalry Vella/O'Hara and Mason/Paea. What I like is that we are now developing decent depth.

I'm sorry but Mickey Paea better than Mason? Nick Johnson better than Colbon? Graeme Horne better than Matt Cook? And, as much as I hate him, Taulapapa better than Cockayne???

Paea doesn't have to do a lot to be better than Mason (in a Rovers shirt), jeez, the cardboard cut out in Morrisons had better stats! The rest we will have to wait and see, would you not agree?

Fair point on Johnson but Paea is really really good. Mason was a superstar in his day, but those days are gone and he proved to be an expensive liability. Horne is much improved from his Hull days and is easily as good as Cook if not better, and certainly has a better attitude. Jury is out on Taulapapa, but I doubt Cockayne would ever be good enough to match the NRL appearances he's made.

Paea wont have to do alot to be better then Mason in a Rovers shirt. Nick Johnson and Liam Salter are two players that are homegrown that have taken the squad place and wages of Colbon, Greame Horne and Matt Cook are pretty similar but Horne is more versatile and is better in defence, which is an area of cooks game that many overlooked last season. Taulapapa has played NRL, Cockayne wouldn't get anywhere near an NRL squad.

Colbon has played 103 SL games, them 2 haven't played any. Seems a strange one to me. Turning down the chance to train full time and get some experience and pointers from the older players.

Probably so, but personally I'd of thought it would be better to develop your game now, so in the long term you have a better chance of getting a decent contract. Unless he feels Harrison is the man to do that.

Even with the addition of Paea (TBA on Wednesday along with Withers) Rovers pack needs an experienced 'impact' forward. There are positives signs and potential about Cox, Taylor and Watts but they will need to be led (by example) by a seasoned campaigner. Cuthbertson fits the bill but it seems he will opt to stay in the NRL.

I have heard the rumour circulating Kurt Gidley is the player Sandercock will be bringing with him. That would be a sensational signing!

Whats your source or are you just speculating a wish list?

I heard Gidley's name from Bonesy but he said he had heard it 2nd hand.

I can't see Gidley leaving Newcastle, particlarly as Wayne Bennett rates him highly. I will gladly eat a humble pie factory if I'm wrong.
