To stop the moaning would it not be better for the paper to run a normal back page i.e. with any sporting headline and then give the 3 pro clubs in the city a page each with "any other news" on it. It would stop the moaning I suppose. Just a thought!

That's absolute tosh.

The problem with P & R is the disparity in finances between the divisions resulting in the lower leagues having to run part time. So you have a relegated club moving into a part time environment and with a massively reduced salary cap, causing huge difficulties. You can award all the C grades you want to the lower league teams but these problems would remain unless the SKY money is divided 20/24 ways rather than 14. And that simply is never going to happen in fact quite a number of SL chairmen want it to go back to 12.

So giving gradings to a host of clubs from the lower league would be pointless as would returning to P & R without addressing the fundamental problems that caused it to be abandoned in the first place. Namely the gulf between a full time professional league with a salary cap of £1.65m and a part time league with a salary cap of £300k.

As for the gradings they don't count for much really. We have seen many times it only takes a quick meeting of the RFL and the rules can change in an instant. If a rule exists today who is to say it will exist tomorrow? It will if the RFL want it to and it won't if they don't.

The Wakefield situation really does illustrate how ludicrous and fickle the entire process is. I'm glad they are still in SL and I think it is right that they are..... but the RFL have had to drive a coach and horses through their own rules and stated philosophy to keep them there. They were gone, finished, not good enough and they only have themselves to blame....so went the conventional wisdom.

But at the 11th hour, oops hang on there's a problem would you like to stay? THree years ago they got a licence by the skin of their teeth and only because the league was expanded by 2 clubs. They got a clear message 'you were lucky this time get your act together or else'. Well the only thing that has changed since then is that they have gone bust and been in administration. No wonder Halifax are fuming.

So you see how easily, quickly and late in the day the goalposts can be moved if it is convenient. When all is said and done we don't really need gradings to tell us that Wigan, Leeds, Hull and Warrington are not about to be dumped any time soon. Or 'Grade B St Helens' for that matter. Do we?

Schifcofske as got to be on the cards for us now surely! none quota and a great player to learn from whos good at attacking the line.

Said on Twitter the other day he's off home to do sports management. Would be good if we could persuade him otherwise though.

Lloyd White has been far more impressive than Lincoln Withers this season, he's a very skilful hooker.

Plus he's young and would count as homegrown.

I was hoping for Gil Dudson to be mentioned but those O Hara and White would be useful recruits.
