As I've commented on (here) a few times, more harm than good.

| I believe we will have 1 d/r player available on Thursday so it hardly constitutes a Warrington side......and as one person has put it hasn't helped that much so far.

| Marshy Warrington & Swinton have abused the agreement, I understood Dual Reg was meant to give young Super League players game time.
That is the point

| Swinton have acted in complete disregard to the idea of dual reg. I am very pleased that you are at the bottom of the table as this I feel is natural justice.

I reckon Tony Smith has abused the spirit of Dual Registration (but sadly not the rules).
I think Swinton hoped it would get them results. In the main it hasn't so it probably hasn't worked for them, just for TS.

| Match Preview
Doncaster RLFC are looking to book their place in the semi-final of the Northern Rail Cup when they face Swinton Lions on Thursday evening (7:30pm kick-off). This quarter final tie is to be played at the Leigh Sports Village in front of the Premier Sports cameras.
The Dons beat York City Knights away 24-12 to get this far in the cup and Swinton entertained and beat North Wales Crusaders 28-16, who currently top the Championship One table.
Dons' head coach Tony Miller is aiming to kick on from last week's stunning 36-24 win at Featherstone in the Kingstone Press Championship. His side were worthy winners as they put a stop to Rovers' six-match winning league run.
Lee Waterman, Liam Kay and Paul Cooke all earned selection in the Premier Sports Team of the Week after their performances on Sunday and Miller will hoping for more of the same against the Lions.
The club's medical team will check on hooker Nathan Powley before Miller can finalise his team but club captain Kyle Kesik (knee) is definitely ruled out and Mike Kelly is a major doubt after picking up a knock at the weekend.
New signing Russ Spiers is included in the Dons squad and Adam Scott is also available for selection after missing out at Featherstone. The Wakefield trio of Danny Cowling, Kay and Kyle Trout are also included.
Miller said: "It's a big game for us and one we certainly want to win.
"We've already played and lost at Swinton this season so we know what they're capable of.
"If we can show the same execution and effort like we did at Featherstone then we've every chance of going in the bag for the semi-final draw."
Lions' head coach Gary Chambers is aiming to halt a three-match losing streak having not won since beating the Crusaders in the play-off eliminators.
Since then they have lost against Dewsbury Rams, Halifax and Batley Bulldogs, but Chambers hopes to be boosted by the return of both Richie Hawkyard and James Laithwaite.
Chambers said: "There are some good bodies to come back for us." Ian Watson, Darren Hawkyard and Liam Hulme will also be given late fitness tests.
Please note that all fans will be able to use the banqueting suite at the Sports Village for refreshments at the game.
The Legends Bar is closed due to a private function but anyone with a match ticket will be able to use the banqueting suite, gaining access pre-match via main reception.

Bit rich when you are including three from Wakefield...oh but of course they are kids a bit like ours but I understand on Thursday we will only include one kid.

| Marshy1 so Adrian Morley, Lee Briers and Chris Bridge were just kids too? Danny Cowling played all last season for the Dons, and Kay and Trout have also been regulars for Doncaster throughout this season. None of these are international players returning from injury.
As a club we have turned down other players offered to us from Wakefield because these were players not getting game time. I agree that the Hunslet and Leeds application of the dual registration is also wrong, so I shouldn't have just singled out Swinton. I think it must have been having a dual registration coach that swung it.

| I feel for Swinton fans at this moment in time, whether fairly or not, they are being perceived by the whole Rugby League world to having their identity stripped from them.
They've been nomadic in their "home" for some time now playing at Leigh and Salford grounds in recent years, and on top of becoming geographically irrelevant they are now being accused of having their team identity taken away by becoming Tony Smiths play thing as the rest of the sport smugly looks on at their current position.
I would hate to be in that position and see it happen to my club, but at this moment in time this is the hand they have been given.
The last time I saw them at the ground in Whitefield they had plans to soon be in a brand new stadium, I am not sure where they currently stand on that but the impression the chairman at that point gave was that he was putting an awful lot of money into the venture and the club.
