Kelly, who has also coached Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, Dewsbury Rams and Featherstone Rovers, took Ireland to the 2008 Rugby League World Cup where they were defeated in the Semi Final Qualifier by Fiji. Kelly and Director of Rugby Chris Hood first had discussion last week with regards to Kelly working with Thunder, and Hood is delighted that he has accepted.

Not enough play makers for the Dons (we have one now Allen has gone)....despite Gateshead being theoretically weak....is asking for it IMHO.

I'm guessing either Ely or Kesik will have to partner Simon Brown unless TM has another option we are unaware of.

I'm not called Steve and money is not the issue ( that's just an excuse)......otherwise who the hell would play for clubs like the Dons and Gateshead..and Skolars ...and some other clubs.
But they do and some of them are half decent players.....so simple logic says there must be others.
And further simple logic says...you just have to find them.
Of course that is not easy....but they are there alright.
Maybe a bit young and raw or old and running on empty.... but they are there.
Money is only an issue in that we can't afford the ready-made article. We need to develop them instead.
That said you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear....it's all about recognising talent and potential...and not sticking with dumplings.
