it was a close game one good thing to look at is halifax were mostly at full strength and we had about 6,7 players missing hopefully we will pick up when these players are back.

You cant play them all.You have a stronger squad than widnes so that is inevitable.Our squad has 17 core experienced then the rest youngsters. So a squad of Yates,flynn,grady,thompson,coyle,kavanagh,houghton,ben davies,strong,mullaley,hulme,farrell,gerrard,i think that make a team of youth.

We had are chances to win that game last night, we just come up with stupid errors, let's get it out of our system early and kick on and smash Dewsbury next week

Thats pretty standard fayre for us, conceding and scoring plenty, if i were a viking i wouldn't be too worried, cut out the mistakes and we would have been in big trouble, you've got a good balance of big blokes, speed and craft.
Would love us both to be playing both finals this year, 2 proper rugby clubs.

No. We need to up our attendances by being the best team in the league. Our players may or may not produce that but that is what the plan is. We need fans before we can start thinking about SL.

But how can any club realistically grow attendances when promotion is not decided on the field. To some degree last season any hope of SL relied upon winning the NR cup or featuring in the GF so you could say that there was something to play for. This season is different because the fortunes of Widnes/Fax/Barrow gaining a licence in 2012 will not be affected in any way by what happens on the pitch this year.

That my friend - i do not know. I think the best we can hope for is 4,000 but we're way off that and i haven't a clue how the club is going to achieve that without expensive (and expansive) marketing. I think the club are hoping that if we are consistently the best team in the league the fans will turn out.

It'll take time to separate the link between SL and The Championships. When that happens, The Championship can concentrate on itself - in it's own right. Some say we won't be around then (Starbug) and others say we will.

As a fax fan i agree to a point with what your saying, your off field and youth activities are ahead of us, no question.
But we as a club really need to bring home the bacon and win something and get the town buzzing again. If we didn't get games against yourselves and Leigh where theres an atmosphere it would be even worse. Im sure during this season well start putting things together to move beyond what seems like ticking the same boxes. Its a good point, i've made on our own forum also many times, Tony Anderson tried the youth policy though and it cost him his job, and now we see some of those kids like Grix doing rather well, theres not a lot of patience sometimes because its a results business.

As i said before i hope we both have strong years and can meet in both finals so the fans get a taste of real rugby league, with history, passion and atmosphere. Always looked out for Widnes since the mid 80's when i started watching rugby. Good club.

Is there any news on Haggerty. I suppose he will be having a rest anyway when the RFL veiw his attack on the Sheffield player. He will be lucky to only get 5 matches for it.

Widnes if they had taken the chances and scored more points when they dominated in the opening twenty minutes could of gone on to a good win. But they let Fax get back in to the game and Fax took the chances that came there way. From that, Fax got confidence. There were stages that Widnes struggled to control Fax, as Fax were getting away with quick play the balls which gave them good momentum. Then Fax allowed Widnes back in. Both sides need to show more discipline in both attack and defence. But sure that will come.

Fax won a battle, but that will mean very little come the end of the season and Fax end up with nothing-as could easily happen. Widnes are doing things the right way and are obviously helped by SOC and so can afford to run an academy properly. I guess that is the area Widnes want to target while Fax are targetting winning something and to improve Crowds-similar probably to Barrow. Fax & Barrow are not ready for SL-Widnes are. Best of luck and am sure the next game will just be as tough to call as Thursday.
