Near enough to my team, but i would like to see strong given a chance.I would have him over gerrard.I think Grady should go to fullback, as he has safer hands than yates, and maybe Grady can make it his postion?
If he does, then we can move Ford into a centre postion, when he is back from injury.I do have a feeling tkl will get injured sometime this year.Touch wood he has a injury free year.

| I dont understand the clamour to get Grady back at FB. I know it was his favoured and original position when he joined scholarship originally but I think the last time he played there was with the 18's when Yacca had moved up to reserves. That must be knocking on for two maybe even three years ago.
He was a very very good FB when he joined but the club made the decision that Yacca was the number 1 and ever since weve been pi$$ing around with what position Shane is best suited to.
He has played well at centre this year, leave him there and give him a prolonged run.
Yacca is the back up FB so again give him a run in his position. Otherwise he may aswell go now. The lad needs game time to develop his confidence.
For me it makes more sense to leave three members of the backline where they have been over the previous weeks (Gardner, Grady, TKL). Yacca in to his more natural position at FB and then either Varks or Thompson onto the wing. I seem to remember Varks playing on the wing in one game last year and having a bit of a nightmare but I think if he can cover across the Keighley and Judes game then we should have some more bodies back (Paddy ?).

I see your point mate but in my opinion i do not think Yates is good enough.A fullback needs to be good under the high ball with big players steaming onto you.Yates runs well as he has speed, but i prefer safe hands.Broadbent and wellens at saints do not have great pace but their postional play is good and can take a high ball.I would love Yates to do very well and hope he proves me wrong.

| If Grady gets picked at full back and Yates on the wing I'd be fuming if I were Scott Yates.

Yates has not proven himself yet.If gets picked then he has to take his chance.Otherwise yates has to go elsewhere.

| I'd be amazed if Cull put Grady at full back. He had his best game of the season last week and has developed a decent little partnership with Gardner. It would have Yacca at full back this week.

| I can see them spotting Grady at 1... as mentioned he seems to mention it alot... though IMO i don't see it, whenever on wing he seemed a bit laboured and laxidasical (?) going back and I think he has had a great season so far and has really stepped up this season but if we need a winger has to be Yacca or one of younger lads I guess!

I agree with this and what others have said - it seems an age since Grady 1st broke into the 1st team and since then he's been tried in loads of different positions without ever being allowed to specialise in one. He has now finally had a decent run in the team and playing well. I used to watch the academy and Grady was a great fullback, but if he's maturing into a good centre, why change things? The only change that I would make postionally is putting Kavanagh back at prop due to the injuries of Haggerty and Pickersgill making us a bit light up front.
I'd go with:
1. Scott Yates
2. Matt Gardner
3. Shane Grady
4. Toa Kohe Love
5. Danny Crompton
6. Anthony Thackeray
7. James Webster
8. Jim Gannon
9. Mark Smith
10. Dave Houghton
11. Lee Doran
12. Liam Farrell
13. Dave Allen
14. Thomas Coyle
15. Ben Kavanagh
16. Ben Davies
17. Richard Varkulis
Bit of an inexperienced front row with 3 of the 4 props being 21 or under, but hopefully with players Smithy and Webbo there to lead us around, I'm sure they'll be fine. Will be a lot happier once we get the likes of Haggerty, Pickersgill and Flynn back.

That for me looks pretty close to the team I’d pick too. Yates has to be given another chance at FB sooner or later. This season is make or break for him. Let’s give the lad a chance. I’ll be disappointed if Yacca doesn’t get this opportunity. Cullen knows what he’s doing though, and I’m sure he’ll see the significance and the opportunity this game has for Scott.
I’d like to see how Matt Gardener does on the opposite wing with Toa, although that would possibly leave us weak on one side, with two youngsters in Grady and Danny Crompton partnering.
Who’d be a coach eh?
