Swinton will be gunning for another win on Sunday but now have Phil Jospeh banned for 2 games, Stanley Buss pass Gene couldnt inspire Halifax to a win against a Sheffield side missing 5 regulars.

Noticed you missed out that we were missing a handfull of players.

Stanley Gene is so old Geoffrey Chaucer dedicated a story to him called "The Ancient Journeyman".

we all know he is still a great player even at his age he is still going to have a great season in the championship.

The way I see it:
Group 1 looks all sown up, providing we don't blow it against Swinton, We're through along with Barrow, Batley and Keighley. Whitehaven and the Championship sides to miss out. In group 2, York's shock win over Leigh looks to have put them through along with Halifax and Sheffield. The last place will go to Leigh unless they lose to Dewsbury and they would go through. Quite big shock that it looks like both Featherstone and Whitehaven won't have made it past the 1st round.

NRC doesn't prove anything, I mean you won it last year and finished 4th overall in the league.

Maybe it's a good thing for Fax that they lost so Calland doesn't get delusional like he did last season and shout his mouth off again.

And I'd take Stanley Gene in my side any day of the week, his attitude and committment is there for all to see, and he's been a very good player.

Calland wasn't delusional. We were light years ahead - at the time. Someone forgot to tell him and the players that they weren't at the finish line though.



Out of interest, Paul Cullen issued a similar decree at the time. The boffins at MIT are still trying to decypher it.

No lose situation for Halifax really - had they won big, their fans would have been creaming themselves, had they won small they would have said something about good teams being able to win when they don't play well and how the opposition played very well. Now they have lost, people will still say its good as it will keep their feet on the ground. Probably the only result that wouldn't have been seen as a positive would have been a big loss. For purely comparison purposes Fax played Sheffield at Sheffield this time last year and put 50 on them.

As for Gene, I think it is very much a case of wait and see. It might well work out great for them, but age will catch up with him eventually - maybe this will be that season, who knows. If you comapre his situation at Fax to Kohe-Love's here. None of us are expecting Kohe-Love be able to rampage around the pitch for 80 mins. All we are expecting is for him to show the odd flash of class close the opposition line. Gene's been built up as star signing for Fax and I just wonder whether it will work out like that.

So far he's done more than I've expected of him. His defence is beyond immense. His ability to organise and motivate is a real plus. And like we saw against Rams, we're going to be seeing some great runs by the little man.
