And Thompson isnt in Harlequins 19 man squad so doesnt look like McDermott rates him so he could be back with us shortly.

lets hope hull get some numbers back so we can keep him on a week to week basis.

Surely the fact that the illness should have cleared up next week will mean his return is no longer needed?

Not sure why we have said no to be honest... as already mentioned we don't have a game this weekend so he wouldn't be playing in the side again before he was due back..

Why not just say thanks very much and send him back and keep up good relations between the two sides should we want to bring in another player from there.

I don't want for one minute to suggest that relations are in danger of being damaged between the two clubs.. we have a good relationship apparently with quite a few clubs and Hull were grateful that we didn't kick up a fuss over the whole challenge cup debacle but I don't see what this does for us.

In terms of where this leaves us I'm not too worried. Varkulis has come on leaps and bounds recently and could slot nicely back in there. Or gives Grady a go again!

It's not us saying no, it's the RFL. He was signed on a 1 month loan. RFL rules mean that he can not play again for Hull until the month is up.

Let's hope the illness clears up for next week then.

Thompson played in Quins reserves last week. Doesn't really look like they'll be keeping him but you never know, they might just see the Thompson / Grayshon swap a fair deal and go with it til the end of the season.

Ah right... I just thought the RFL enforced the rules and it was between the two clubs to actually make the arrangements between themselves. i.e. if both clubs didn't mind and sorted it out themselves then a loan deal could be cut short.

It's on Thompson's facebook status that he is on his way back from London next week I think.

Maybe he'll knuckle down and try to play out of his skin for a new contract? I mean he's got to wake up sooner or later. He was not kept on at Saints, not made an impression with us so far, it appears Quins are not interested in keeping him - who's going to offer him a contract if he doesn't do anything between now and the end of the year?

Let Cullen give him the opportunity to train hard and see if he can earn a place in the 1st team. You never know he might turn out ok, alternatively he might end up somewhere else on loan.

I think he was beginning to do okay for us just before he went out on loan so we'll see how he goes on his return.

As you said mate, it might just be the tonic that he needs.

I actually didnt realise the article continued on that news page and it does say as quoted from Agar

I think you may be right there. We had a similar situation with Matt James on loan from Bradford earlier in the season. They requested his return due to a mounting injury crisis. Fax were under no obligation to allow his return but never the less did so to maintain good inter-club relations. We then got him back again when their injury problems had eased.

Problem we have is loan deadline has now passed, hence if he goes back to Hull don't think he can then return to Widnes!

Whereas with Matt James I think you just basically did a new loan deal?

So either way if went back would miss final

Not sure how it works with him already being on loan, if he has already played in the cup then i dont see why he couldnt play in the final if he come back.
