| Would it be wise to invest a lot less in the squad next season?
Of course, we don't want to be in a relegation scrap, but if costs are cut to help keep the club healthy in preparation for a financially tiring franchise bid, in theory this would be a good idea?

| certainly not, i can see were your coming from but we need to be in the rl spotlight as much as possible. We dont want to be forgotten about and need to prove that we are the best club in the divison and could easily slot into sl.

| Many said that Celtic and Salford were nailed on for franchises last year.
Maybe if we win it this year, SOC may receive a couple of positive whispers from the RFL if we are to go up.
Perhaps then we could start to assemble a SL squad.

| Nah I think we need to keep the momentum rolling and give them no choice but to accept us. The fans won't accept anything less than the best either as we've seen this season.

I know were your coming from but would it be worth to try and assembly a decent squad so that we can take a few of dem players upto super league.

| I think it would give us the opportunity to blood our youngsters. If the cap is to drop next year then we'll probably have to cut back on a few senior players anyway.

You can't trust Super League. You have to win as much as possible - make it hard for them to turn you down - it's the same for Halifax, same for Barrow, etc..etc...
Do not give them any excuses to shaft you again.

Wining is important, but so is youth development. If we bring some youngsters through now it would be even harder for the RFL to turn us down. I think we can do that as well as stay competitive.
If the RFL want to shaft us, and I've every reason to believe they will, we need to be strong in both those departments in order to make that embarrassingly difficult for them.

| I hear what you're saying but i really don't think they'll give a fig about youth policy if you've won the NRC and the GF two years on the trot, especially if the usual suspects have wooden spooned SL for two years also.

That isn't going to be done by any team in this league so it's hardly going to be a main concern. What would set us apart, and does, is youth development. With the expansion to a 14 club SL, I reckon it will be a major issue come 2011.
I could be wrong, but the RFL has made an awful lot about licences being brought in to help youth development. If not, why bother?

They made a lot of stadium development too but you'll see that quietly buried as we enter 2011 and no-one laid a brick.
