As some have pointed out Saints are down a fair few, yes so are we too, I'm not expecting a win BUT stranger things have happened!
ao in the unlikely event that somehow we beat saints on their own turf then what? carry on as we are and that somehow stays the execution in the minds of some (which admittedly wouldn't take much) and indeed Pearson?

It could end up being a great performance, we don't plod about the pitch like the Thursday debacle or am I really conjuring up a dream of fantastic proportions...



But you never can tell, we could win, so then what next?

It's a great question. But not one to waste too long pondering I suspect. Saints pack is well-staffed. Their props are fit and will eat ours for breakfast.

if we beat them and its a big if, it will only paper over the cracks at the club, the only good thing will it will hopefully install a little confidence in the players!

After reading some of the posts since Thursday I get the impression some fans will be happy if we get beat againsts saints ... Imo of course and not fact

Yep , I'd suspect Cunningham & co will simply play to their strengths and beat us at our own game .

no chance of a win, we don't score enough points. saints despite injuries and not scoring too many themselves in recent weeks will still have enough to win a lowish scoring game something like 18 - 6

IF we did beat Saints, it would mean very little if we didn't then go on to win at least 4 of our next 5. This is the point it has come to because of what has already gone.

So, that was that, I kinda saw it coming (it usually does when we're on our bare bones) and Widnes next, it won't actually gain us much ground even if we win and Widnes lose tonight, we'll jump one place..but I guess from small acorns.

League position is largely insignificant at this stage. It's a bit of a cliche, but we just need to focus on getting some momentum going. The table will look after itself. The next 3 in particular are really important, and if we can win them all we will be top 8 with a little bit of breathing space, and in theory we will have had the toughest fixture list of anyone since we haven't played Wakey yet.

You can only play what's in front of you so just enjoy it. Let's face it, any win at Saints is worth celebrating!

As I said, from small acorns..however league position DOES matter, it's the actual real indicator of where we are right now. That in itself has an effect on not just fans but on the coach/players/owner. And yes what ultimately matters is where we are when it comes to the crunch but not being higher does induce pressure which in itself has a cyclic effect on top of all the other things going on.
Each match you lose adds yet more pressure, in turn you play players that are injured when IF you had been further up the table with more wins you wouldn't risk it.
You play more conservatively because you don't want errors and because of that tight games are nerve wracking for players and the scent of fear/failure is palpable, and then losing those close games is so difficult mentality to an extent you have what happened against Leeds in the second half & the whole of the Rovers game, they were screwed mentally probably before kick-off and it showed.
It all goes back to the Salford game, win that after a decent showing against Warrington and the next few games are games we would likely have done better in, no guarantees but confidence/mental stability in sport is so vastly underestimated especially in a physically tough sport. We just don't have anyone there for the players and LR isn't the man to do that, he just doesn't know how.

But all said and done it's the focus/attitude of the coach that is concerning. Rather than take the win, congratulate players etc and say we need to forget it & move onto the next game, etc etc he comes out with the rubbish in his interview.
If as it appears he's spending time not focusing on what he should be by responding with some form of on-air argument/dummy spit to what fans think/say, that departs from the job at hand..it also puts a lot of noses out of place and to a degree shows that he can't handle the pressure, passionate as he may be.
he MUST learn when to say things and when not to, Pearson is just as bad (if not worse) TBH and doesn't have any excuse unlike Radford whom just doesn't have that decision making ability/experience to know what to say when.

I often wonder why you didn't get the coaching job professor knocker, as you seem to know about everything, bet you hated us beating saints eh pal?

Another way of looking at it is that the job in hand was beating Saints, which we did. He said he was ecstatic for the players who'd been criticised for their work ethic, and the fans who travelled in numbers and voice, backing up after a poor derby defeat. All of which took around 20 seconds. Not a major distraction or departure.

You won't ever learn will you..talking about stuff that not only isn't relating to the thread but also making inflaming posts which is against the AUP

I heard what he said, within the first minute he starts questioning (having a go if you like) people whom are questioning him and the team (attitude/effort), given the performances and results that's hardly surprising yet he can't even admit that the performances have being poor..just the results...his own words not mine!

Plus Instead of leaving it at him & Houghton praising the fans he then goes back to having a pop at the fans whom decide that they've had enough and are despondant at how things are going...again totally understandable but he's too thick to understand why! He makes sure to repeat about the fans that have turned up. if you can't read between the lines, well that's your problem not mine luv.
it's the way he was talking about it, clearly it's something that has being brewing for him to say something and frankly he needs to keep his mouth shut about criticising fans when the reality is he's doing a micturate poor job of coaching..and if he thinks getting beat by 30 or 40 is the only indicator of how bad things are or the only way he'll walk away that shows you how deluded he is!!

Coach acknowledges fans making impressive effort shocker.

But he didn't just do that though did he? And you know it.
Had he just thanked the fans that had turned up and left it at that then that's great but it was the little dig at those fans calling for his head which didn't need to be said.
Passionate he is, professional then I don't think he was right then.
He should have remained dignified understand why he's getting the flack and just get on with trying to turn things around.

So not quite the news shocker you're making it out to be.
