| I can't believe how many people on here are talking about throwing the towel in on their beloved club. The fact that most won't follow through their threat is the only saving grace for them, but to even suggest it, only proves what kind of a 'fan' they are.
On friday, coming back from Wigan, after our third victory at the JJB in three seasons, I thought back to those trips to Batley, Rochdale, London Skolars, and all the times that I'd seen us get tonked in Cumbria or at Fev, and thinking not only how far behind Hull Fc we were, but how far from Super League and ever seeing Rovers at the top of the sport again.
Well it's all history now, we've made it up there, and we're doing well, but not once in all that time did I doubt my support, did I think I was going to throw it all in because of a series of poor results.
I appreciate you've had a bad time under the current board, but you've also had the good times, two challenge cup finals, one of which you won as you know, and then a grand final appearance, ok you lost, but I'd give my right arm for Rovers to have any of that success over the next few years, win or lose in the final.
The problem is, some of you can see the dominance you've enjoyed in this city slipping away, but it's sport, it happens, Rovers might have a poor season next year, in fact it could all go wrong this year, and Hull the reverse, but if Rovers lost every game from now to the end of the season I wouldn't be throwing the pass in the bin, or asking for Morgan to be sacked, it's sport, as said, it happens.
Both Hull clubs have been known for their loyal hardcore support, no matter what figure that is for either side, but Hull FC seem to have far too many only to quick to throw it all in at the first sign of a change in fortune for the worse.
Old faithful? In any kind of weather? Not quite true for some of you is it.

good post
my opinion is we have a very good team who can compete with the rest of super league, all we are lacking is a 7 who can lead us around the park, simple as that, unfortunately it looks like were going to have to wait for next season for a number 7 and live with what we have got for now,i can understand how people are feeling, but im afraid a game of rugby league is not worth been on suicide watch for.

Well said Churchill.True supporters will watch their club through good and bad times.I remember the early 70,s and the mediocrity through the 90,s.The main issue is that some show their frustration by spitting the dummy out and threatening not to go anymore, not renew passes, buy shirts etc....
The point Iwould make is that all 3 clubs in this City have their fair share of moaning s.I think it is indicative of the City and its sports fans.I know of Rovers fans who didnt watch the club for years, the same with the 20k that now watch City at home, most couldnt be ar$ed to watch their team when they needed them most, and I would include FC in that.
The fact with Hull F.C.at the moment is that most fans think we are a big club and their expectation outstrips the ability of both the players and directors at the moment. In addition to this, the fact that Rovers are doing well at the moment only increases the level of frustration that Hull fans have with the performances at the moment and also the ineptitude of the people running our club.
What we need to remember is that this season more than any other,SL is a more level playing field. At the moment no one can predict results. Now that for me is far better than seeing any club get beat by 50 every week and only having 2 clubs looking like they can win things.Although frustrated,I will follow my club no matter what as will plenty of others.Unfortunately we are not performing on or off the field at the moment but that will change eventually. So it is ok for people to vent their frustration, knock the club and generally whine, they are quite entitled to do this. For those of us that have seen far worse in the past,we will always be there no matter what.

the big difference with your Rovers comparison is that until about 3/4 years Rovers had neither the ground, the support or the finances to compete at a higher level. In the same way that in our last years of the Boulevard we had neither the ground, the money or the support that to expect anything other than maybe reaching a playoff place...but we were happy with that, because we could understand the clubs limitations
now the life and the hype is being strangled out of this club by continual bad decisions and bad rugby. All they have to do is spend some money on a top class coaching set up, and quality players would follow, and we could become the biggest club in SL. If we all just turn up at the ticket office every autumn and handover our season pass cash they'll carry on running this club on the cheap.

we are a big club! we play in the biggest ground, to the 3rd largest crowds, with one of the largest turnovers in SL. We have made 3 finals in 4 years...so why are you just happy to let us slip into 'competing' with the likes of Salford, Celtic etc?

I agree with the most of what you're saying, but to be fair it's only a minority on here that have said they'll [inever[/i watch a game again.
This is, to a degree a knee jerk reaction, which for some will change as the scars of yesterday/this season heal.
Fans are like games ' you win some, you lose some' It's just that recently we've lost more than we should be doing.
It's also the manner in which we are losing games that's pi55ing people off.
We [ican[/i compete with teams as we have displayed thus far. We just can't finish them off. Right now we’re like a ship without a rudder.
I hope and pray that the club rectifies this sooner than later, as fans are making decisions on how to spend their hard earned.
I will still be there next match along with thousands of other fans.

Absolutely spot on. The level of hysteria on here is out of hand.
People seem unable to cope with the fact that it's more of a level playing field now. Of the clubs that think they have a right to be challenging Leeds and Saints, i.e. Wigan, Bradford, Warrington, we're ahead of them all. People need to get a grip. We were 10 players short of what we'd planned to have in the squad last night, plus Washy picked up a bad injury and Yeaman played with concussion. We'd have won last night if we'd had 5 missing internationals in instead of, for example, 3 reserve hookers. We'd then be 5th.

Where does it say I am happy for that to happen.Fact is SL is far more level this season than any other and we do not have a divine right to win every game.It is far more entertaining watching the likes of Salford,Celtic and even Rovers competing than sticking 50 past any of them week in week out.The point I would make is yes we have had some success recently but we as fans in the main, have a level of expectation that is way beyond the skills of the current players. This is what is leading to some fans feeling the way they do.

| Most of us loose our temper a bit, say they've had enough, and some say they wont be going again.
Then when the next game comes along we put our shirts on and go and support the lads.
I think you have to look at a lot of after game posts on here in that context, as blowing off steam.

You're missing the point. With 11 players unavailable, of course we will lose (and probably heavily) to Leeds and Saints - we struggle to win when we're at full strength.
The point is that those 2 are well ahead of the rest in terms of quality. Of the rest, you're saying we are a big club and should be next. Well, of the other "big clubs" we are. Warrington have more money available to them (Moran), Wigan have better gates and an international coach, Bradford are SL's biggest winners so far (I think). Why should we be any more disgruntled than them when we're above them in the table with far worse player availability issues?

Then when the next game comes along we put our shirts on and go and support the lads.
I think you have to look at a lot of after game posts on here in that context, as blowing off steam.'"
I've lost count on the amount of times I've come home and thrown my shirt in the bin, I've also lost count of the amount of times the wife has taken it out and washed it.
It almost a ritual now.

| Quote Mrs Barista="Mrs Barista"You're missing the point.
Why should we be any more disgruntled than them when we're above them in the table with far worse player availability issues?'"
that comment says it all, in 2006 we turned up to games with Leeds and Saints with confidence about beating them...and obviously in 2005 we beat them both on the way to winning the CC. Now you seem happy to accept that we just won't beat Leeds and Saints anyway?
and comparing us to other sides who have recruited awfully like Wigan and Bradford is pointless, they have destructed themselves just as badly. Wigan let all their young talent go for imports such as Seu-Seu and Bradford wasted everything on Harris. We should not be looking to them for tips on how to run our club.

| Quote CHURCHILL="CHURCHILL"I can't believe how many people on here are talking about throwing the towel in on their beloved club.
'"
They are the KC Generation of Hull FC fans . Only known the good times in a nice shiney new stadium.
Let them throw in the towel and sulk . Last night even in the first half the atmosphere was lunar ! Could you imagine the Old Boulevard being as quiet ?
All seater stadiums have killed the atmosphere.
I long for the intimidation a hostile Boulevard crowd held for opposition teams.

the boulevard would have been just as quiet watching a poor display
and we can't just let the 'kc generation' 'throw in the towel' without the extra 6,000 or so fans we have attracted at the KC we simply can't operate on the level we have been operating on. Unless you want to see even more cost cutting by the board.

I think seeing revenue drop is the only way our Board will react.
Like the MP`s they are riding the gravy train.

Not accepting anything, just saying that playing the teams who have contested the last 2 grand finals will be difficult even if we were full strength. That's not an unreasonable statement. It's disappointing that we've not kicked on, but not being in a position to expect to beat these 2 teams is hardly grounds for abandoning ship. How many teams go into those fixtures fully expecting to win?

The point here is that all of these teams have expectations on a par with ours. Wigan are a bigger club than us. We have no god-given right to overtake Leeds and Saints on the back of one good league season in 2006. Some people just can't come to terms with it, and sound a bit spoilt. IMO

well yes, a short term drop in revenue would get us noticed
but long term we simply can't lose the extra fans we have gained at the KC, and we are in danger of losing a lot of people for next season, both old and new.

Good post!
Unfortunately every club, and most every sport has them.
Sport, like life and relationships, has good days and bad days.
They only want to know and have the good days.
I guess I am one of those old fashion supporters, who wears black and white specs.

And how do you know this? More rumours? Two weeks ago Noble was on the verge of the sack, on his way to Bradford. The latest is that Noble is set to sign a new contract because the chairman who is 'rumoured' to hate the bloke now seems to adore him.
IT'S ALL BOLLOX
