Poor decision to kick the goal at 14-16 for me. 3 minutes left, we should have banged the ball into the corner and played out the set and put in a decent kick forcing either a drop out or leaving salford needing to go the full length. This was then compounded when we lost a scrum against the head!

We won.

Don't let that stop this lot moaning

Right decision for me, I wouldn't of expected us to score tbh.

We kicked the goal and regained the ball from the short kick off.

Had we run it who's to say we wouldn't have spilled the ball or Salford would not have gone for the one-on-one steal, or taken an interception and scored?

Thought it was an appalling decision myself and I'm not looking to be negative about the perfomance overall which I thought was an improvement.

As Phil Clarke said, pretty much a 50:50 whether you get the ball from a short kick off; lucky for us we won that roll of the dice, otherwise it was 6 tackles on our line and what is the difference between a 2 and 4 point lead if they score a try and kick the goal!!

Kick into the corner with 3 mins to go: six tackles, either we score game over, force a repeat set game over; or they have six tackles starting on their own line - should be game over.

I haven't got it in for our coaching staff but this was an incredible decision and very lucky for them they got away with it.

It was Sharp's decision to go for goal and a terrible bit of judgement. I'm usually one for taking the points when available but with three minutes left it should have been put into the corner and the game played out in Salfords quarter.

Spot on for me...i said to the daughter..kick for touch and force a repeat set as they will do a short kick off....mind you...we dealt eith that well as we had 2 mind behind the man flicking it back.

Agreed it was an un warrented risk, that almost back fired. That said given the touch judges performance on kicks last night any pot at goal was a 50-50 risk.

Have to agree it was a terrible decision by JS and RA, it still meant they had to score but very nearly got the field position they needed as a result of us going for the 2. We should have kicked into the corner and gone for the try or a repeat set. Worst case would have been them having to come off their own line with the ball.

Let's play devils advocate for a minute.

Assume we went for touch, didn't score then Salford score a try in the corner. Wilshire misses the kick because he was off sorts. Salford win 18-16

Or Salford get over the halfway on next set and win a penalty, goal kicked 16-16.

Now i am sure if either took place everyone would have been saying we should have taken the 2 on offer.

It was for me a sensible decision and we got the 2 and then got the ball back from the kick off.

But the odds of them getting a try from withtin there own 20 are surely a lot less that from getting one in our half

It's all if's and buts at the end of the day. It wasn't as bad as people are making out.
You hear it all the time in a tight game take all the points on offer.

Yes it would have been hard to see Salford score from inside thier own half, but then it would be hard to see a team lose a scrum in the dying seconds
