I agree. This season the competition is wide open. The only standout side are Saints and they're beatable in a one-off game.
We have an outstanding chance to get to our 2nd GF but we need to finish at worst 3rd I think to do so.
Given Wigan are improving we must play a strong side and win on Sunday.
If we don't I fear we'll end up 4th or even 5th and out at the first hurdle in the playoffs.

I never really expected to make the play-offs this season. We may miss out given 6 into 5 won't go but even if we do it's hardly a spectacular drama. Mid table, and a CC semifinal for the 3rd time in 4 years. Saints are fantastic this year and should take the treble with ease. Off the back of an 11 run losing streak and taking a raft of injuries into this year we've done well IMO and have made some good acquisitions. Plenty to feel good about.

The club tweeted yesterday that we've sold 1000+ away tickets for the tenth time this season which is a great effort but maybe not that surprising as we seem to be better away from the kcom

We are on track to win 3 league matches in a row against Leeds - we last did it 28 years ago. In the past 4 league games at Headingley in 3 of them we have lost by 2,3 and 4 points so pretty close matches. Would help if Ben Thaler is the referee as we have won our last 2 against them when he was officiating!
On a personal note the only Hull away league game I have been to since leaving the UK over 50 odd years ago was at Headingley in 2014 when Ellis played against his old club after returning from Aus. Remember a crowd of around 15,000 and losing 20-6. |

Load of rubbish, we finish outside the 5 and lose the semi, surely from the position we are in now, that would be classed as a poor season. Regardless of expectations before the season had even started. You'd think, we had a good season, if we escaped relegation by a point. Sad |

Agree 100%. We haven't had the injury excuse for at least the last 10 games, and we've certainly been no worse off than most teams in the league for months. Failing to make top5 after having a nice cushion in 3rd would be poor, but it wouldn't shock me with this team. |

Granted I'd be disappointed if we finished outside the play-offs from this position, not so much the semi provided we put in a good performance as Warrington are a good side, however I'm not sure being determined to see the positives and not get too wound up by everything is sad.

Not been negative, I actually feel quite positive that we'll turn up and give both Leeds and Warrington a good game. But if we lose both and the season just fizzles out, I can't see how anyone can see that as a good season, and be happy with it. But like I said I'm quite confident that won't and shouldn't happen. We have a great chance this year, saints aside, the competition is pretty poor. Ourselves and Warrington been the best of a bad bunch |

Need to win this game , with having Wigan 5 days after the semi which makes that game even tougher . Lose both and we could be down to 5th maybe 6th and the pack having caught us . If we can win Sunday it takes the pressure of us a little , and keeps us 3rd no matter what happens against Wigan !

The silly quotient on here is really ticking up. The majority had us finishing outside of the play-offs having finished last year on a massive losing run. To do so would therefore be in line with expectations. Reaching a CC semi knocking Cas and Catalans out improves that. Making the play-offs would be even better given the cup distraction that none of our play off rivals have had. I've really enjoyed the season far, been some terrific moments. Up the Cream.

On Sky Sports Terry O'Connor had us finishing 8th. Their fans' poll had us 8th too. Barrie McDermott and Phill Clarke predicted a 9th placed finish for us.
Given all this Mrs B is clearly spot on with her post. If we finish fifth I'd count it as a good season with a Cup semi final at least thrown in. Should we finish sixth and lose the semi it's hardly been a disaster in what most people saw as a transistional year as we see a number of players approaching the end of their time at the club. |
