| Quote ="Ian P"We do not know how many season pass holders we have, its a guarded secret this year for some strange reason. It has dropped from last years high water mark, by how much is anyones guess. The effect of on field perfromance and season pass sales has to be a factor, the worry for the board is if that trend continues for 2012. No doubt they have will have done there budgeting for this season already and I am fairly sure they have cut "there cloth accordingly" with a reduction is gate takings down expected.
The fall in gates to FC is not as great as people are thinking as all the gate over 8,500ish is split with SMC and clearly we have been prudent with the cap spending which will have had an impact. I would be interested in shop sales to as if they have held up well the club will not be in a bad position to maintain its hard line stand behind Agar. They appointed him and it will become a test of wills between the fans and the board, they will tough it out.
Basically whatever the fans do will have little effect until the board starts projecting forward to 2012, that is when the "poop hits the rotating round thing "'"
They havnt anounced the number of pass sales as they will be well down on last season. And that is no suprise really,

I actually think this type of thinking has got us with the unbalance squad we have today.

No I'm not slagging Westerman either, just think it was a really odd signing in terms of where our priorities were.
Fair point about the board giving us a future and we will always be grateful for that, just think there has to come a time when we stop basing decisions on what they've done for us in the past. If Agar is there mainly for financial reasons then as Isiah just said it's a massive false economy.

I agree completely, I just think sorting out a decent coach for the next few years should take priority over sorting out a decent loose forward.

I agree and if I was in chrge then a better coach would be my first priority.
But my point is I don't think it's this boards.
So boycotting the matches will effect the playing squad.

| In business you often have to speculate to accumulate. For me if we brought a top coach in and paid them £200K a year it wouldn't matter as long as they were doing the job well and bringing success on the field. If they do, then it is money well spent as the income generated by success on the pitch such as increases in attendances, sponsorship, club merchandising etc would out weigh the initial outlay.
For me Agar being head coach is damaging to the club regardless how much he is getting paid (even if he was doing it for free) the issue for me is the longer he stays in the job the more damage is done and the longer it takes to get back on track.
Quality coaches are worth the money, substandard coaches are not.

| Haven't some posters, allegedly more privvy to info than me, claimed Rule doesn't think the coach is that important?
If so why would the board believe spending more cash on a coach be 'spending to accumulate'?

True, although you could argue that if the board isn't doing all it safely can to allow us to compete for trophies then what does it matter if the playing squad declines a bit further? It's not as if we need to worry about having to stay in the division.
Re what James Rule said about not needing a good coach, I've heard it from too many different people for it not to be true, he's pretty open about it from what I gather. It's part of the reason I think he's another one that's been promoted one step above his natural position, obviously a good marketer and decent businessman but he's got far less idea about RL than the average fan.

| I don't know what a ceo's role is inside a rl club tbh, they certainly shouldn't be in charge of recruitment.
I'd imagine the appointment of the coach is the board?

penny drop quicker if fc fans boycott pass next year, wow if this carries on past a month its gunna be very very interesting but in all honesty it wont get anywhere near the season end before action is taken, just my opinion of course.'"
Of course we will get more than 10000 Watson!! Its elementary
However I was replying to a thread regarding a mentioned boycott, and merely stating that with 9000 passholders regularly attending, and high attendance games such as Quins,Crusaders,Wakey, Catalans etc to come, all teams who bring no support,It will probably be The Home Derby that will boost our avarage up significantly,Not walk up FC fans from the other fixtures.
Also you state it won't last all year,Why won't it? Agar is contracted and the board have done nothing but back him,If and it is a Big If, the season shudders along as is do you not think people not buying season passes will force the Board to try and Attract supporters, instead of us queing up to give them our money.

If there had been a season pass refund window at the KC on Friday night there would have been a long long queue there after the game and I'd have been in it!
Actually that's a quote from my mate Mel who said that as we were walking out.

The exact same philosophy i use in business, speculate to accumulate.
Totally agree with what you are saying and ateotd, thats what the club should do. Players careers are suffering playing under an amateur coach. My love for the club dwindled years ago under this regime, my love for the team is a different matter but even i cannot bring myself to watch them at the moment whilst there is too much influence on the team coming from the club itself. The season pass will probably stay in the kitchen drawer until Agar goes but by then i may be in a position whereby i get used to not attending games anymore, that after 37 years of support.

| Quote ="Standee"Good, we have paid transfer fees for no reason.
And as for cheaper than Agar, a few people posting on here seem as clueless, some may even appreciate having some self-perceived power.'"
Serious question & I hope someone tell me. What is 'cheap' with regard to the salary that a super league head coach is paid? I expect many will have different values. I have no idea what Richard Agar is earning but on many occasions people have inferred that he is/was the 'cheap' option & I have understood that to mean that the club/organisation have not paid him a big salary.
What nowadays can a good heach coach earn or be expected to earn & what can a middle of the road head coach expect to earn in super league? I have already stated that I have no idea but I would be interested to know.
I would appreciate an insight as to what others understand to be the 'going rate' for a head coach. Then I may be able form a clearer picture of those who manage the club.
