| Quote ="Raggytash"I've not suggested going back to those facilities. Currently the Boulevard is not a viable option. I've just pointed out that it had a much better atmosphere and wasn't the slum some posters would like to label it. It is also Hull FC's home, where ALL of our best players played. I obviously would love it if we could go back to the Boulevard, redeveloped and with reserved terracing but I like everyone else think this is unrealistic.
I agree entirely with your points regarding Hamburg and have stated in a previous post that I would be happy if I had the option to stand at the K.C.'" Richard Swain never played for FC at the Boulevard.

The atmosphere was virtually none existant, except for the odd one off big game in the final 10 years of the Boulevard.'"
We spent some of those years outside the top flight after not being selected to play in SL, when we did get in SL we were bottom 2 for the first couple of years and then went through a merger - the ground was full once that I can recall (1997 v Rovers).
It was always going to be a crap atmos during these years. If we went back now, with bigger crowds than 2002, the atmos would be alot better. Just compare Craven Park from 2005 to this season.
btw, I wouldnt support a move back for one minute.

Standee's worst nightmare: A Friday night game at the Boulevard, stood in the middle of a loud threepenny next to the HFC board, reading a match day programme riddled with spelling mistakes, after a 1 hour 45 minute drive.

That really is a pathetic attitude.
You wanna support a sporting team, show encouragement and generally try and improve thier perfomance, you sing. Its also something form a personal perspective that enhances my experience.
Old Faithful has completely gone at home. That simply has to be wrong and something we could do to try and rectify.
only way I can see it happening though is ripping out the seating. Hence the point of the OP methinks.

That has never happened at a Hull FC home game at any point in history. FACT.

Manchester United DO NOT train on the Old Trafford pitch. Because of drainage, ventilation problems and lack of natural sunlight, they avoid the unneccasary wear and tear on their playing surface. Otherwise the pitch would need relaying every month during the winter.
HTH'"
Rubbish, so Man U do not train on OT? What about the open sessions they have than can attract over 4000? Or the behind closed doors sessions and games??
Next You'll be saying that the reserves have never played at OT and the record attendance for a reserve game of 40k (I think it was) never happened! BTW that was Cantona's return after his little incident with a cockney.

According to a post on their official forum, they train at the Carrington complex a few miles from OT.
Maybe they just hold special sessions at OT for the media.

Must be the same for City because on look north the other night the team were clearly holding some kind of training session at an empty KC.
The atmosphere at the KC is good when we get a decent crowd. I do worry though if they expand the stadium. It will look a bit empty. At least the seats are black and for night gmes it shouldnt be too bad. I worry even more though for City if they expand and then eventually get relegated. That really would be a poor show imo. Its ofetn been the case that the atmosphere has been poor. Even super city fan Burnsie has commented on it.
Grounds need standing areas. All seaters are rubbish grounds if you are talking atmosphere alone.

Could you imagine the problems Justine would of had at the KC derby if we had been louder? I think that backs up if the ground was full it creates an awesom atmosphere just look at the donny semi aswell

Hull's record attendance was set in 1936. 28798 were at the Boulevard. Why don't we get that many at the KC? Safety restrictions? Because of small minded people that don't like all seater stadiums?'"
i think headingly is certainly holding leeds back. given the citys population their crowds are poor.
huddersfield with zero real success on the field have grown their crowds every year.
of course if you think halving your average crowds is progress, good luck to you

What an absolute nonsense! Chelseas crowds are poor in comparison to the population and they have a sy ground. And how is Headingly holding Leeds back? They are solvent and are the current World Champions.
