| So am I reading this right?
We (HKR) only have 4 on any list now seeing as Galea and Webster have been added to Lovegrove,Vella,Newton and Fisher.
That is idiotic.

Steady. That sort of ability to independently critique the situation will get you into trouble with the "I don't care if we have 17 Aussies as long as we win, and besides we'll have 17 homegrown in 2 years so it'll be right" party line.
I've given up on it TBH as an RFL fudge due to the lack of legal enforceability. The key point is this. Anyone can see that we [uall[/u signed up 4 years ago to 5 overseas players by 2011, loopholes or not. Anyone can see some clubs did this with sincerity and others have been extreme hypocrites to the point of embarrassing the sport.

Not quite. If Galea gets his passport, it'll be 4 on both lists (currently 5 quota, 4 non-fed). But one player could easily fill the last place on both lists.
I don't think Rovers have the cap space or need to sign anybody else. The benefit may come next year, replacing departures. Of course, by then the NRL will be richer and if Kosh's info is correct we'll either have been bankrupted by a HMRC action or be able to pick up players from those clubs that have!

Oh dear. Which bit of 5 overseas players by 2011 regardless of loopholes was a bit difficult?
Besides, we offloaded Head, Swain, McMenemy, Maiava at the end of 2007. Perhaps we thought by fielding 16 British players out of 17 against Bradford in the final round of the regular season in 2007, of which 10 were homegrown, meant that the need for reduction was perhaps less pressing in light of the 2011 targets than it was for some other clubs.

So Rovers;
Quota: Dobson, Green, Clinton, Webster, Lovegrove (Home grown rule), Galea (for now)
Non-Fed Trained: Newton (pre 0icon_cool.gif, Vella (pre 0icon_cool.gif, Fisher (pre 0icon_cool.gif, Webster (pre 0icon_cool.gif, Galea (pre 0icon_cool.gif, Dobson, Green, Clinton, Mason

It is now obvious that Webster is off or else we would have 6 in the none fed list when you include Mason so either both Webster and Galea are off due to the pre 08 rulE or neither of them are off surely?

The rules have evolved. We have been fortunate in being able to take fuller advantage of that evolution.
The four-tackle rule replaced unlimited tackles. In 1971, four was increased to six. These things happen.
Fair enough, you can't put a moral 'For the Good of England' slant on that and it impacted on evenly on all teams. But 'our' suspicion, one which is well-founded IMO, is that certain people expected these rules to impact on Hull KR especially adversely due to our immature player-production pathway, whereas overseas recruitment for 2008 turned out, unexpectedly, to be the most important factor. Hull FC were thus denied the opportunity to indulge in what you refer to as 'extreme hyprocrisy'. Plenty of opportunity for bitter recrimmination though - so every cloud.
I don't doubt that these people care about the England team - but in plenty of cases I suspect priorities are in this order:
1. Hull FC. 2. Hull KR. 3. England.
You only have to look at the reaction to non-selections or withdrawls from the England squad - 'oh well, at least he'll be fit and fresh for us'. [uSome[/u people don't seem to care much about England RL until it comes to justifying rules that they hope will affect Hull KR.

He doesn't have worry about it as such - it was just what needs to happen, IMO, for your '4 on [iboth[/i lists' statement to be correct.
Galea and Webster are both off non-fed, which we knew - we just didn't think it mattered. They both still count on quota (until Galea's passport comes through at least), along with Clinton, Dobson and Green. Hypothetically, if we wanted to bring a new overseas player to SL [inow[/i, it would have to be an EU or Kolpak qualified one. Galea gets his passport and we can sign Brad Myfamilyhaslivedinsydneyfortengenerations.

| The way i see it is when Rovers release 5 of their 'foreigners' they'll still only have 1 overseas spot to fill. So they may well have a slight advantage now due to how their recruitment panned out but that will expire gradually!!

Quota now stands as Dobson, Clinton + Green.
None Fed stands as Dobson, Clinton, Green, Webster, Galea and Mason.
So unless i'm reading this wrong (sorry MR but i'm struggling with this one) that is 6 on the None Fed list which is to many.
The only way we can get around it is that Galea gets the 08 treatment but seeing as ATM he is just an Aussie doesn't that also mean that Webster gets it as a Kiwi?

That is also something a few of us have been at pains to mention over and over again!
When Fisher, Vella, Newton and Lovegrove leave they are going to be replaced with homegrown or fed players.

| It will revert to the old rules, forget the 08 rules and you can have up to ten kolpack/eu passport and 5 quota inclusive.
Hkr will stand at
Quota Dobson, green, Webster, Clinton and galea( for now )
Kolpack Newton, Vella, Mason, fisher.
Dispensation lovegrove.
At a guess anyway.

Galea and Webster are both fed-trained (200icon_cool.gif, but quota. You have Galea & Webster the other way around (non-fed but off quota) above. You need to add them both to your quota list to make 5, but remove them from the non-fed list, leaving 4.
@Sheldon - the rules are not new, they were just poorly understood. It isn't reverting to 2007 rules.

We have;
Quota: O'Meley, Fitzgibbon
Non-Fed: Lauaki, Moa, O'Meley, Fitzgibbon
We have 3 quota spots available and 1 Non-fed.. Manu is not on quota as he is now a british citizen (5 yr rule (i think)) and not on 'Non-fed' list due to pre2008 rule!!
